THE (R)EVOLUTION OF STEVE JOBS Comes to Seattle Opera in 2019

A new artistic collaboration between Seattle Opera and three partner organizations will result in a world-premiere inspired by the late Steve Jobs, visionary co-founder of Apple and Pixar. The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs will first play at Santa Fe Opera in July 2017 before coming to Seattle Opera for its west coast premiere during the 2018/19 season. (more...)

Mark Rylance to Reign on Broadway in FARINELLI AND THE KING This Winter

Mark Rylance, three-time Tony Award winner (Jerusalem, Boeing-Boeing, Twelfth Night) and Academy Award-winner (Bridge of Spies), will return to Broadway in the critically acclaimed Shakespeare's Globe production of FARINELLI AND THE KING, a new play with music by author and composer Claire van Kampen, it was announced today by producers Sonia Friedman, Shakespeare's Globe and Paula Marie Black. Artists Rep & Isinglass Partner to Host Summer Theatre Leadership Academy for High School Students

Artists Repertory Theatre is partnering with local arts advocacy non-profit Isinglass to offer Egg, the organization's three year-old summer theatre leadership academy. Egg is an intensive seven-week program that teaches high school students the art and business of producing their own theatrical production. This summer 2017 program concludes with a week-long planning session for students to develop theatre and arts advocacy projects which they implement in their own schools during the following school year. WAM Theatre's eighth season continues with the limited run remount of the company's very successful 2013 production of Emilie: La Marquise Du Chatelet Defends Her Life Tonight, written by Lauren Gunderson and directed by WAM Artistic Director Kristen van Ginhoven, featuring the entire original cast. The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre (The Gamm) closes its 2016-2017 season with the world premiere of King Elizabeth, a new version of Friedrich Schiller's Mary Stuart, freely adapted and directed by Gamm Artistic Director Tony Estrella. Featuring Gamm Resident Actor Jeanine Kane (Hannah Jarvis in Arcadia, Lady Macbeth in Macbeth) as Elizabeth I and Boston-based actor Marianna Bassham (Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire, Hedda Tesman in Hedda Gabler) as Mary Stuart Queen of Scots, King Elizabeth promises to be an enlightening, entertaining and timely exploration of leadership and gender politics. Second Thought Theatre Opens Area Premiere of STRAIGHT WHITE MEN

Second Thought Theatre continues its 2017 season of change with the area premiere of Straight White Men by Young Jean Lee. Local director/actor Christie Vela returns to direct for the company after making her acting debut for Second Thought last summer in A Kid Like Jake. Straight White Men begins with previews on Wednesday, April 12 and runs through Saturday, May 6. Could This Meeting Have Been an Email is running in repertory with the strikingly relevant Mary Stuart by Friedrich Schiller, the play from which Could This Meeting Have Been an Email is adapted.
