The Burns Project is a theatrical production created by the National Trust for Scotland in collaboration with theatremaker James Clements. This one-person performance, directed by Olivier Award-winner Cora Bissett, brings to life the letters, poems, and artifacts of the celebrated Scottish poet Robert Burns. Using recently digitized archival materials, Clements explores the complexities of Burns' life, illustrating both his cultural significance and personal struggles. The production will debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2025 and aims to connect Burns' legacy with contemporary themes of identity and cultural heritage.
