VOICES OF CHRISTMAS Come to Write Out Loud, Monday, 12/11

Write Out Loud - an organization founded in 2007 with a commitment to inspire, challenge and entertain by reading literature aloud for a live audience - announces Voices of Christmas, the third production in their American Season XI, a season that focuses on American stories by American authors. Write Out Loud Story Concerts bring literature to life - aloud - with rehearsed readings by professional actors. Each program explores specific themes by weaving a variety of stories and poems together into a literary tapestry. Walter Murray, Steven Lone, Michael Buckley, Veronica Murphy and Walter Ritter will perform in Voices of Christmas with American Christmas Music provided by Mark Danisovzsky. A complimentary pre-show reception starts at 6:15pm with a 7:00pm curtain.
2018 CLUBM SERIES Announced at the Moonlight Amphitheatre

Colleen Kollar Smith, Producer of Moonlight Presents, announces the 2018 ClubM series at the Moonlight Amphitheatre. Smith has programmed three popular musical theatre songstresses to appear at the Moonlight Amphitheatre's intimate indoor cabaret space. The series opens Jan. 13, 2018 with Bets Malone: Broadway the BROAD Way. An Intimate Evening with Lucie Arnaz is next on Feb. 10, 2018, followed by Daebreon Poiema: The Reason Why I Sing on March 3, 2018. The San Diego Theatre Connection is Creating Community and empowering children with Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County (www.sdbigs.org). During the holiday season, four of our theatre companies are participating in the BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS BIG SHOW campaign to recruit volunteers and help raise awareness for the established mentoring organization. Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better. Nationally, statistics show that children in the program are 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs, 27% less likely to begin using alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class, and 33% less likely to hit someone.

UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts Department of Drama continues its 2017 18 season The Business of Politics/The Politics of Business with Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynn Nottage's Intimate Apparel. Based on the life of Nottage's great grandmother, the 2004 play garnered numerous prizes, including Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel, and Obie Awards, as well as the 2004 Steinberg Award for Outstanding New Play. Telling the story of an African American seamstress in 1905 New York, the play explores themes of societal and interpersonal power, through the lenses of race, class, and the early evolution of the suffragette movement.
