Placer Repertory Theater is excited to share this romantic, comedic detective play based on a few stories and the novel, The Sign of the Four, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. This comedic play is suitable for all audiences and will perform in several locations:

Tickets are available on Eventbrite.com.

While it is being represented as a "lively stage reading," the actors are costumed and bring the play to life -- they do not just stand in a line reading.

This adaptation of Conan Doyle's works humorously explores the passive-aggressive nature inherent in close relationships. The dueling narrators, Holmes & Watson, recount the famous case of The Sign of the Four, while squabbling over their opposing viewpoints on this case, on narrative style and regarding the human experience, even as both characters struggle for power and status within the relationship, to comedic effect. An ensemble cast of five professional actors portray the many colorful characters who inhabit this exciting play of stolen treasure, treachery, romance, chase scenes and the long shadows of bad deeds, written for general audiences.

Many of Conan Doyle’s beloved characters are included in this play. In addition to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, the production includes Mrs. Hudson, Inspector Jones of Scotland Yard. All cast members, except Dr. Watson, play multiple secondary roles for a total of 18 characters plus “Toby the Wonderdog.”
