Ripcordby David Lindsay-AbaireDirected by Karen BessonFor the third show of our 113th season, The Players at Barker is proud to present David Lindsay-Abaires sharp and moving comedy Ripcord. When sweet and sunny Marilyn moves into Abbys room at the Bristol Place Assisted Living facility, dour, cynical Abby is none too pleased. Desperate to get the chatty and always-positive Marilyn out, Abby accepts a strange bet: if she can anger Marilyn, she gets the room to herself, and if Marilyn can scare her, Marilyn gets the bed next to the window (the one that gets all the sunlight, naturally!). As these two antagonists engage in a series of increasingly outrageous antics to win the bet, we learn about their lives, their families, and how seemingly-total opposites just might not be so different after all.
