Puccini // THE GIRL OF THE GOLDEN WEST
in Concert

The Gold Rush is on and the rules are off in Puccini’s wild west opera. Minnie’s saloon is the one place in town where the lawless gold seekers settle down and put their differences aside. But all that changes when a stranger rides into town and steals Minnie’s heart.

La fanciulla del West
Music by Giacomo Puccini
Libretto by Guelfo Civinini and Carlo Zangarini, based on the play The Girl of the Golden West by David Belasco.

What is a concert performance? At North Carolina Opera, a concert performance is all about the music! In this performance of Puccini’s THE GIRL OF THE GOLDEN WEST, there are no sets or costumes. Instead, the soloists, chorus, orchestra, AND conductor are all on stage to perform the opera. In the audience, you’ll get an impressive view of the artists as they work together to bring the dynamic score to life.
