Joe Turner's Come and Gone is set in a Pittsburgh boarding house in 1911, where Black men and women are heading north during the Great Migration, looking for work, family, safety, and a chance at a new life. In this house, people are starting over, but the past isn’t done with them.

When a man arrives searching for the wife he lost after being taken and forced into labor, the whole house is pulled to answer a burning question: How do you build a future when someone has stolen your past?
