SLEEPING GIANT by Steve Yockey at Stray Cat Theatre

SLEEPING GIANT by Steve Yockey directed by Ron May Tempe Center for the Arts Studio Theatre May 3 - 18, 2024

The newest play from Stray Cat fave and now Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated playwright Steve Yockey From the writer of Stray Cat hits MERCURY, PLUTO, WOLVES, and OCTOPUS - and now the acclaimed creator/showrunner of television’s THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT and the upcoming DEAD BOY DETECTIVES, we are beside ourselves to welcome Steve Yockey back to the litter. When Ryan’s firework-filled marriage proposal accidentally awakens an ancient creature sleeping in a nearby lake, local residents become consumed by stories about the ‘thing’ and the dark effects it has on anyone who touches it. Admirers descend into zealotry and obsession where mob mentality, paranoia and blind faith beat common sense in a landscape that looks surprisingly close to the world in which we live today.
