The life and music of cabaret legend Mabel Mercer is brought to enchanting life by TONY Award winner Trezana Beverley in an evening of storytelling and song.Called compelling and beguiling by the New York Times, Mabel Madness is the captivating story of Frank Sinatras muse: British born, Cabaret singer and unsuspecting winner of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Mabel Mercer. While Mabel Mercer never became the household name that the legions of famous singers she inspired did (think Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Ethel Waters), her style and qualities undoubtedly lived on through them. Born the illegitimate child of a white British woman and an African American father, her difficult beginnings led to a miraculous life that took her from Britain to Paris to New York, where she eventually became a Cabaret sensation. A blending of storytelling and song, Mabel Madness takes the audience from location to location, weaving the details of Mercers incredible life with familiar tunes and loads of heart, thanks to Beverleys dynamic vocals and outstanding performance.Mabel Madness is written and performed by TONY Award Winner Trezana Beverley, Directed by Frances Hill and Peter Napolitano with Music Direction by Tuffus Zimbabwe. Beverley is the winner of the distinguished TONY Award for her performance on Broadway in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf.
