Director Peter Farrelly's I PLAY ROCKY, starring Anthony Ippolito as Sylvester Stallone, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film tells the true story of Stallone's rise to stardom through the making of the 1976 classic Rocky.

By leaning harder into the Curtis brothers as the emotional spine, the musical clarifies a distinction that’s always been present in the text but rarely foregrounded this explicitly: Darry, Soda, and Ponyboy are family by blood, bound by obligation and grief; while the Greasers are family by choice, bound by loyalty and survival.

Based on S. E. Hinton’s 1967 novel of the same name as well as Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 film adaptation. The Outsiders is set in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1960s. The story follows Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade, and their Greaser family of ‘outsiders’ as they battle with their affluent rivals, the Socs. Together, the Greasers fight for survival and a quest for purpose in a world that doesn't accept them.

S.E. Hinton was just fifteen years old when she began her now-seminal novel The Outsiders. Inspired by her experiences growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the book became a defining work of young adult literature and has been taught in middle schools across the country for decades.

I’ve always been in love with musicals and movie musicals—whether it was Disney, Hairspray, or Dreamgirls. I remember sitting in front of the TV, memorizing every line word for word, and knowing from a young age that this was what I wanted to do. In middle school, I started taking drama and acting classes seriously. They were just electives at first, but I knew I had to be in drama. I did it all three years of middle school.

He highlighted the deep connection he has with the piece, pointing out this his mother had posters of C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, and Rob Lowe on her locker when she was in high school.
