Today we rewind to 2016, when Bright Star arrived on Broadway. The musical opened on March 24 at the Cort Theatre, where it ran for 109 performances.

Broadway ladies united earlier this month for the world premiere of Award-winning composer Carmel Dean's Well-Behaved Women. The cast included: LaChanze, Liz Callaway, Natascia Diaz, Melissa Rose Hirsh, Bonnie Milligan, Katie Thompson, Kuhoo Verma, Sasha Allen, Andréa Burns, Hannah Elless and Barbara Walsh. The holiday masterpiece, A Christmas Carol, opened on Broadway last night, November 20, following critically acclaimed runs at The Old Vic, London. Playwright Jack Thorne and director Matthew Warchus offer a magical new interpretation of Charles Dickens' classic story. The sun is gonna shine today because its the birthday of the legendary actor and comedian Steve Martin! In honor of the occasion, we're looking back at his Tony-nominated musical Bright Star that he wrote the score for with Edie Brickell. Benny & Joon began performances Thursday, April 4, 2019, and will continue through Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Paper Mill Playhouse (22 Brookside Drive, Millburn, NJ). Benny & Joon is presented by special arrangement with Larry Hirschhorn. Opening Night is set for Sunday, April 14, 2019, at 7:00pm.

The critically-acclaimed musical comedy THE OTHER JOSH COHEN opens Off-Broadway tonight, Monday November 12, at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43rd Street). The musical - nominated for six Drama Desk Awards and the Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical upon its world premiere in 2012 - features Book, Music and Lyrics by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen, who co-star in the title roles, under the direction of Tony Award nominee Hunter Foster. Joining Rosen and Rossmer in the cast are Drama Desk nominee Kate Wetherhead (Legally Blonde), Hannah Elless(Bright Star), Elizabeth Nestlerode (Once Tour), Luke Darnell (Million Dollar Quartet Vegas) and Louis Tucci (Buddy);Zach Spound (Cruel Intentions: The Musical) will serve as swing. Previews began Friday, October 26, 2018, for the show's limited engagement of seventeen weeks through February 24, 2019.

Broadway's Corey Cott (Bandstand) and Hannah Elless (Bright Star) star in two newly released music videos from the new musical Rebel/Genius. With book, music and lyrics by Peabody Award-winning composer Matthew Puckett, Rebel/Genius is inspired by the early life of scientific genius, Albert Einstein. Cott and Elless perform 'Faster' and 'What Love Looks Like,' singing the roles of Einstein and his first wife Mileva Mari?, respectively.

Today we celebrate the first Broadway revival of Stephen Schwartz's Godspell, which opened on this day in 2011.

The world premiere of BENNY & JOON will run at The Old Globe Theatre through October 22. Based on the 1993 movie of the same name with a screenplay by Barry Berman and Lesley McNeil, BENNY & JOON follows the story of auto mechanic Benny, who is the only care taker of his eccentric sister Joon. Things become complicated when Sam, with his own take on the world, steps into the picture and turns everything upside down. BENNY & JOON explores what happens when you step outside of what you know, and take the leap toward love.

BROADWAYSTED - the popular and hilarious podcast that combines theatre and alcohol- is gearing up for their 50th Episode where they'll be appearing live as the headliners of an afternoon event of "Day Drinking" at NYC PodFest.  The show, which also features Smithsonian's podcast sidedoor and Death Wish Coffee Company's Fueled by Death Cast, will find the Broadwaysted crew day drinking with special guest Krysta Rodriguez.  For tickets, click here.
