Mayor-Elect Eric Adams attended last night’s performance of Thoughts of a Colored Man, his first Broadway play in his new position. After the show, which was attended by Mary J. Blige, Broadway’s own Sheryl Lee Ralph and her husband PA. State Senator Vincent Hughes and Tasha Smith, Mr. Adams praised Keenan Scott II’s play as “historic”.

Just before its opening night on Broadway, Good Morning America went behind the scenes of Thoughts of a Colored Man, the first Broadway play in history to be written and directed by Black men, and to include a cast of all Black men. Watch the interview with the play's cast and creatives now!

Today we rewind to 2010 when The Scottsboro Boys moved to Broadway. The musical, which features music and lyrics by legendary songwriting team John Kander and Fred Ebb, played for 49 performances at the Lyceum Theatre.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) presents the second and final show of the 2019 Nutmeg Summer Series: 'Cabaret,' the Tony-Award-winning musical centering around a German nightclub against the backdrop of the Nazis' rise to power. The cast is led by Olivier Award-winner Laura Michelle Kelly as Sally Bowles and Tony Award-nominee Forrest McClendon as the Emcee. They will be joined by three-time Tony Award-nominee Dee Hoty and Jonathan Brody. Scott LaFeber will direct with choreography by Christopher d'Amboise. Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) continues its 2018-19 season with Paula Vogel's 'A Civil War Christmas: An American Musical Celebration.' Elizabeth VanDyke will direct. Webster star in Vernon Duke and John Latouche's jazz-filled fable Cabin in the Sky, running for seven performances for Encores! at New York City Center, tonight, February 10, through February 14.
