Earlier this month, Brandon Victor Dixon stepped into the role of Billy Flynn at Broadway's Chicago. Now he is telling us all about his new role in this video.

Last night, September 12, Angelica Ross ('Pose,' 'American Horror Story') made her Broadway debut in the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago.  Also joining the company on Monday were Brandon Victor Dixon in the role of 'Billy Flynn' and Amra-Faye Wright who returned to the role of 'Velma Kelly'. A quarter century ago, Jonathan Larson's groundbreaking musical, RENT, opened at New York Theatre Workshop. From its humble beginnings at NYTW, this rock musical went on to shape a generation. Based on the original book of the 1921 musical revue Shuffle Along, the story focuses on the challenges of mounting the original production of Shuffle Along and its effect on Broadway and race relations.

With music by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens and a book by Terrence McNally, Ragtime tells the story of three groups in the United States: African Americans, upper-class suburbanites, and Eastern European immigrants.

Today we flashback to 2013, when Motown first performed on the Bryant Park stage. Motown opened on April 14, 2013 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where it played for 738 performances, and returned to Broadway in 2016. Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright and choreographed by Patricia Wilcox and Warren Adams, it starred Brandon Victor Dixon, Valisia Lekae, Bryan Terrell Clark, Charl Brown, and more.

Today we rewind to 2016, for a special concert presentation of Ragtime on Ellis Island. The musical originally opened on Broadway in 1998 at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, where it played for 834 performances.
