Signature Theatre announces the full cast and creative team for the DC premiere of The Scottsboro Boys directed by Signature Theatre's Director of New Works Joe Calarco (Signature's Jesus Christ Superstar, Gypsy) and choreographed by Jared Grimes (Signature's Jelly's Last Jam). John Kander and Fred Ebb's final musical collaboration premiered on Broadway in 2010 and was heralded as 'an absolute marvel' by The Associated Press. The Scottsboro Boys is centered around nine young African-American teenagers who were ripped off a train in 1931, falsely accused of a crime, hastily tried and sentenced to death in an outrageous disregard of due process. The Scottsboro Boys will run from May 22 - July 1 in Signature Theatre's intimate MAX Theatre.

Arena Stage is currently preparing to present the world-premiere musical Snow Child. Infused with a score that combines Alaskan string band-traditions with contemporary musical theater, Snow Child follows a couple rebuilding their lives in the Alaskan wilderness when they meet a magical and mysterious snow child who transforms them. Lin-Manuel Miranda has teamed up with Ben Platt for the newest song in his #Hamildrop series, Found/Tonight. The song, which features vocals by both men, features bits of 'The Story of Tonight' from Hamilton and 'You Will Be Found' from Dear Evan Hansen. Listen below!

Ben Platt took to Twitter today to share an audition tape of himself singing 'Maria' from West Side Story. A film remake by Steven Spielberg is currently in the works but no word on if that's the project Platt was auditioning for or his involvement, if any.

As BroadwayWorld reported last year, Tony Award winner Ben Platt is hard at work on his first solo album with Atlantic Records. Now he's telling the world what to expect. "The album at Atlantic is definitely pop and it's all original music that I'm writing and co-writing with some people who I've met that I really love very much," he told Billboard.

The World-Premiere of Mary Kathryn Nagle's SOVEREIGNTY is currently playing at Arena Stage as part of the Women's Voices Theater Festival. The play, which features flashbacks spanning to the 1830s, follows a modern-day Native American woman, trying to use her powers as a lawyer to restore rights to the Cherokee Nation. SOVEREIGNTY opened January 12th and runs through February 18th.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater presents The Pajama Game, directed by Alan Paul in his Arena Stage debut, with music and lyrics by Richard Adlerand Jerry Ross, and book by George Abbott and Richard Bissell. Featuring Musical Direction by James Cunningham and Choreography by Parker Esse, The Pajama Game runs now through December 24 in the iconic in-the-round Fichandler Stage.
