Josh Young presents Cutting-Edge Composers, A New Generation of Musical Theater Songwriters

Jim Caruso's Cast Party is proud to announce celebrated songwriting and performing team of MARCY HEISLER (bookwriter/lyricist) and ZINA GOLDRICH (composer), in The Marcy & Zina Show, Monday, July 20, 2009 at 7pm, as part of the long-running, critically-heralded concert series Broadway at Birdland. Special musical guests will be Clinton Kelly (TV's 'What Not To Wear'), composer Jeff Blumenkrantz and singer Jill Abramovitz. The band will consist of Mike Croiter on drums and MaryAnn McSweeney on bass.

9 To 5's Stephanie J. Block made a special appearance to celebrate the release of her debut solo recording, 'This Place I Know,' on Wednesday, July 1st at the Lincoln Triangle Barnes & Noble. The performance and signing brought out her many fans as she shared her soaring and dynamic vocals with the crowd! Celebrated songwriting and performing team Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich will return to Birdland with 'The Marcy & Zina Show', Monday, July 20th, 2009 at 7pm. The duo will be performing songs from their upcoming cd. Also scheduled to appear are Jill Abramovitz, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Mike Croiter, MaryAnn McSweeney, and special guest Clinton Kelly.

HAIR's Michael James Scott love for fashion has been in his life for a very long time. 'Style' and 'Fashion' isn't the first thing that might come to peoples minds when they think about theatre, but the talented actor is on a mission to change that and bring it to the forefront.

Three studio titles will change and one production will move to the Main Stage in a major revision of the Portland Center Stage 2009/2010 season. Early strong seller The Chosen will move to the Main Stage, replacing Joe Turner's Come and Gone (which will be deferred to future season). In the studio, a possible Broadway tour causes our production of Thurgood Marshall to be postponed, and The Best So Far will be put on hold to give it a bit more gestation (and New York fundraising) time.

Other new additions to the evening include actors Will Rogers ('Gossip Girl,' From Up Here) and Charles Shaughnessy (Urinetown, 'The Nanny') and directors Michael Berresse ([title of show]) and Marc Bruni (White Christmas).

Nominations for the 54th Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced this morning at the New York Friars Club by Faith Prince and Jim Dale, multi-award winning stage stars.
