Dallas Summer Musicals presents the Dallas engagement of the Tony Award-nominated Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof at the historic Music Hall at Fair Park from Aug. 7 to Aug. 18.  The tour will launch October 17, 2018 in Syracuse, New York at Landmark Theatre.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts announces casting for the North American tour of the Tony Award-nominated Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof, which will play Segerstrom Hall May 7 - 19, 2019.

The Smith Center for the Performing Arts is proud to present the Las Vegas engagement of the Tony Award-nominated Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof from June 4-9, 2019. 'Miracle of Miracles!' Since its Broadway debut in 1964, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF has touched the hearts of millions with its story of faith, tradition, and family that has transcended generations. The show centers on Tevye, a poor Jewish milkman as he tries to marry off his eldest daughters.  With music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and book by Joseph Stein, this nine-time Tony Award-winning show features memorable songs such as  'Matchmaker, Matchmaker,' 'To Life,' and 'Sunrise, Sunset.' You might be familiar with the songs and story but you haven't fully experienced it until you see the National Tour of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, now playing at the Majestic Theatre of San Antonio.

The mamas and the papas (and sons and daughters) debuted at Memphis's Orpheum on Tuesday night, but this was no case of California dreamin'. Rather, it was the national touring company of Fiddler on the Roof that descended on the Bluff City to serve up a hefty helping of tradition. Fiddler on the Roof is, of course, one of the classics, with a storied history that includes its having enjoyed the first musical run to pass the 3,000 performance mark, and a near decade long reign as the longest running Broadway musical. Audiences may also remember the 1971 film adaptation starring Topol as the show's central patriarch Tevye, which garnered three Academy Awards. Set in a Jewish settlement in Russia in 1905, the show would not be expected to bear any shade of modernity. That being said, the production's youthful and endearing cast, excellent choreography and innovative lighting design, combined with its timeless themes of family, community and connectedness to one's ancestral history certainly make it resonate with inter-generational audiences of all faiths.

This show is essentially what it was on Broadway: a gorgeous staging that marries stunning stagecraft with complex and rewarding material. But with so many of the cast members, the singing isn't where it ought to be...

On a very chilly Tuesday night, Fiddler on the Roof opened and warmed the hearts of the enthusiastic audience at the Fabulous Fox.  This Broadway revival was full of new energy and more emotion than expected with this beloved classic.

Tradition is on tour!

With a terrific cast, led by the humorous Israeli TV and film star, Yehezkel Lazarov, this production made me think, made me ask newer and more interesting questions, and, oh, those gloriously memorable songs, the humor, the love stories. For me, Fiddler on the Roof remains perched firmly at the top.

2018 has given South Florida a fun cornucopia of live theatre, from the Southeastern premiere of Freaky Friday at Slow Burn to the national tour of Hamilton at the Broward Center. Since 2019 is already well underway, here is a look at what South Florida theatre has to offer this year.

Based on Sholem Aleichem's series of short stories about Tevye the Dairyman, Fiddler on the Roof centers on Tevye, a poor milkman who lives in pre-revolutionary Russia with his wife and five daughters. Among the traditions in their little village of Anatevka, the matchmaker arranges a match between a boy and a girl, and the father must approve the arranged marriage. However, Tevye must cope with both the strong-willed actions of his three eldest daughters who wish to marry for love and outside influences of the Tsar who intrude upon his village.

In his Tony-nominated revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, now playing on tour at Broadway in Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theatre, director Bartlett Sher delivers a fresh and strikingly relevant vision of this 1960s classic. While Sher carefully honors the cultural and historical setting, a rural Jewish community in early twentieth century Russia, this production achieves a timelessness that speaks to the plights of marginalized people throughout history.
