Joe Thomas, best known for his role in E4's The Inbetweeners, is to star in a play at Theatre Royal, Glasgow.

With The 19th Annual Festival of New Musicals taking place this upcoming weekend, Village Theatre is excited to announce the casting for XY, an uplifting musical about identity and coming to terms with your past; Cold Turkey, a wild and funny satire; Modern, an inspiring tale about a group of Amish teenagers; Eastbound, an poignant story about Chinese brothers in search of a home they've never known; and Cowboy Bob, an adventurous rock musical about a bank-robbing woman. The Festival will take place in Issaquah August 9-11, 2019 and provides an essential platform for writers to develop new works. Past Festival shows include Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning shows such as Next to Normal and Million Dollar Quartet, as well as Broadway and Off-Broadway hits: It Shoulda Been You, Desperate Measures, Lizzie, and many more.

Premium network EPIX released a new teaser trailer for the highly anticipated new series, GODFATHER OF HARLEM. The 10-episode, hour-long drama series is inspired by the story of infamous crime boss Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker), who in the early 1960s returned from ten years in prison to find the neighborhood he once ruled in shambles. With the streets controlled by the Italian mob, Bumpy must take on the Genovese crime family to regain control. During the brutal battle, he forms an alliance with radical preacher Malcolm X (Nigél Thatch) – catching Malcolm's political rise in the crosshairs of social upheaval and a mob war that threatens to tear the city apart. GODFATHER OF HARLEM is a collision of the criminal underworld and the civil rights movement during one of the most tumultuous times in American history.

Boston horror-inspired metal group ICE NINE KILLS have announced their headlining 2019 SiriusXM Octane Present's 'The Octane Accelerator Tour' to take place this fall featuring support from Fit For A King, Light The Torch, Make Them Suffer and Awake At Last. The U.S. tour will kick off on October 29 in Cleveland, OH at House of Blues, hitting major cities cross-country before wrapping in New York City on December 1 at Webster Hall. General admission tickets will go on sale this Friday, August 9 at 10:00 AMlocal time at www.iceninekills.com. Six directors have convened in Arles, France for the sixth annual Sundance Institute | Luma Foundation Directors Retreat in Arles, France, from August 1-12, 2019. Founded in 2013 as a creative collaboration between Sundance Institute's Theatre Program and Luma Foundation, the Retreat is an opportunity for directors to meet, share best and emerging practices, and work self-directed on their upcoming projects.

The Lexington Theatre Company opened Disney's Newsies, combining “Today's Broadway Stars and Tomorrow's Broadway Hopefuls” at The Lexington Opera House. The educational mission of “The Lex” centers around training the next generation of musical theatre artists, as college students from around the country perform alongside and learn from seasoned pros.

The Oscar-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival saw a record 6,000 submissions from over 80 countries for their 15th anniversary. The organizers are thrilled to announce that over 400 films from 30 different countries will compete for this year's top prizes during the festival's 10-day run from August 8-17 at TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood.
