Celebrating almost a decade, the Ninth Annual Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival returns to Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, NY for another day of food, fun, and entertainment on Sunday, July 21, 2019.  This year, attendees can expect a great musical treat from VP Records with international recording artists Bunji Garlin, Capleton, Christopher Martin, Fay Ann Lyons, Naomi Cowan and Shenseea all slated to perform. The Festival, which has grown over the years and is expected to attract over 20,000 patrons this year, highlights the authentic Jamaican Jerk flavor.

Jazz at Lincoln Center Announces 'Jazz and Art' Album

In past concerts that have been described by the New York Times as being “soulful,” “evocative,” and “playing directly to the band's strengths,” the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis performed original compositions inspired by masters of modern art including Romare Bearden, Stuart Davis, Sam Gilliam, Winslow Homer, Wifredo Lam, Norman Lewis and Piet Mondrian. On August 2, 2019,Blue Engine Records will release the studio recordings of these charts on a new album entitled Jazz and Art.

The Academy Invites 842 To Membership; 50% Are Women

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 842 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. The 2019 class is 50% women, 29% people of color, and represents 59 countries. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy's membership in 2019.

Disney Television Studios Announces 14 Panels for Comic-Con

Disney Television Studios including Twentieth Century Fox Television, ABC Studios and Fox 21 Television Studios takes over the San Diego Comic-Con convention with stars and creators of 14 of its fan-favorite shows descending on the world-famous gathering next month. In addition to exclusive sneak peeks of its programs and panel discussions with the casts and creators, the studio will rotate producers and stars through the ABC and 20th Century Fox Television booths on the convention center floor for autograph signings and activities, including distribution of exclusive 2019 poster tubes, collectible mini-posters, premium giveaways and DVD sales.
