Two-time Tony nominee Lyle Kessler will premiere his historical drama THE GERMAN at the Durango PlayFest, featuring Victor Slezak, Kip Gilman, and Margaret Ladd, directed by Brendan Burke.

HB Studio will present its first annual The Light We Carry Festival, featuring performances, screenings, masterclasses, and conversations with artists including Jessica Hecht, Mercedes Ruehl, and Marsha Mason.

Santa Cruz Shakespeare today announced it will open its summer season with the exciting World Premiere of The Formula by Kathryn Chetkovich, directed by Ellen Maguire in a co-production with Blissfield, during its summer festival July 10-Aug. 28 in the Audrey Stanley Grove in DeLaveaga Park.

All of GTG's programming, inspired by the works of George Bernard Shaw, are designed to provoke peaceful discussion and activism.

In mid-November, theater lovers gathered at The Players in New York City for the launch of Bucks County Playhouse's new Play Discovery Reading Series. The debut of the new series featured a benefit reading of Bruce Graham's "The Outgoing Tide" directed by Marsha Mason and starring Mason, Peter Strauss ("Rich Man, Poor Man") and Michael Nathanson (Netflix's "The Punisher" and BCP's "Chapter Two"). Victor Slezak ("Blue Bloods") provided narration.

Audiences will have a chance to experience both lesser known classic plays and new works when Bucks County Playhouse launches its Play Discovery Series with a reading of 'The Outgoing Tide' by Philadelphia playwright Bruce Graham on November 14 at 7:30 p.m. Directed by four-time Oscar nominee, Marsha Mason, 'The Outgoing Tide' is the first of several plays that will be part of the series for which Mason also serves as curator.  Additional titles will be announced shortly.

Heidi Lauren Duke choreographs & directs Mezzo-Soprano Martha Prewitt in Lee Hoiby's comedy Bon Appetit!, written about the legendary chef Julia Child, from June 30 - July 5, 2017, at the Town House (20 Church St.)  in Hardwick, Vermont.  The return of opera performance marks a full circle moment for Hardwick's historic Town Hall which was, in fact, built as an opera house in 1898.

Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw, under the leadership of Artistic Director David Staller, kicked off its 12th Season when it presented its 120th concert presentation with Shaw's 1893 comedy Mrs. Warren's Profession on Monday, January 16 at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2537 Broadway at 95th Street). New plays by Neil LaBute, Marta Buchaca and Marco Calvani - leading writers/directors representing contemporary voices in drama in the U.S., Spain and Italy, respectively - will be given their U.S. debuts in the 3rd edition of the ambitious, provocative series of one-act plays, AdA: AUTHOR DIRECTING AUTHOR, running Off-Broadway at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St. NYC) with previews starting January 19, 2017 prior to opening January 23. Ada: AUTHOR DIRECTING AUTHOR is a unique evening of theater: the three playwrights direct one another's work.
