Tippet Rise Announces Fifth Concert Season Highlights For Summer 2020

Tippet Rise Art Center is pleased to announce highlights and dates of its fifth anniversary concert season, July 10 through August 29, 2020. The art center, which opened in 2016 and celebrates the union of land, art, architecture, and music, will present seven weeks of concerts featuring an impressive list of artists, many of them making their debuts at Tippet Rise. Complete program details will be announced on February 18 and tickets will be available through a randomized drawing, which will open on the Tippet Rise website on the same day at 12pm MST/2pm EST and remain open until 5pm MST/7pm EST on March 9, 2020.

In a new collaboration, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra welcomes singers from the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program for scenes from Mozart's Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro in the second week of the 2020 Winter Festival, January 9-12. Edward Berkeley stage directs the performances.

Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards Announce Third Round of 2019 Recipients

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, has announced the recipients of the third round of the 2019 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $415,000, allow 9 productions extra time for the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, hoping to extend the life of the world premiere play after its first run. 

Consequence Of Sound Premieres Smoke Fairies New Video 'Disconnect'

Smoke Fairies just played a sell-out single launch at The Social in association with Rough Trade to celebrate the release of a limited edition 7”. The show and single sold out three weeks prior to release and landed at #3 in the UK Vinyl Singles chart, surrounded by Coldplay, Queen and Kate Bush. They will play additional UK dates (below) in February just after the release of Darkness Brings The Wonders Home.  The ladies will also appear on John Kennedy Radio X with an interview and live session on January 28th.

The New York City-based Kairos Italy Theater along with the Italy-based KIT Italiana and Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò at NYU will present the eighth annual In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY, a festival of Italian theater taking place in all five boroughs of NYC (participating venues to be announced), April 27-May 11, 2020. Ars Minerva is a Baroque opera company devoted to the resurrection of forgotten but eminently worthy Italian operas. On the weekend of Nov. 22-24, Are Minerva will present the modern world premiere of composer Domenico Freschi and librettist Francesco Maria Piccioli's Ermelinda. Originally heard in 1680, the opera was a lavish entertainment for Procurator of St. Mark's Marco Contarini and his guests at his country villa.

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of Bella Bella, written and performed by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Casa Valentina, Torch Song, Hairspray) and directed by Kimberly Senior (Disgraced, The Niceties), is beginning its final two weeks of performances. Arthur Pita's TEN SORRY TALES Will Premiere At DanceEast Next Month

A new commission by DanceEast and Sadler's Wells, produced by Pita's newly renamed company Ballo Arthur Pita, TEN SORRY TALES presents a collection of modern-day fables told through dance, theatre, live music and song. Opening at Jerwood DanceHouse, Ipswich on Friday 13 December, the production runs for 8 performances until Tuesday 17 December 2019.

Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of The Height of the Storm, written by Tony Award® nominee Florian Zeller (The Father), translated by two-time Tony Award Winner Christopher Hampton (Les Liaisons Dangereuses) and directed by Tony and Drama Desk Award nominee Jonathan Kent (Long Day's Journey into Night) is beginning its final two weeks of performances. After being extended, the play must close on Sunday, November 24 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).
