BWW Review: AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY at Theatre Tulsa

If you've seen American family dramas, you've already seen arguments erupt around the dinner table, secrets whispered in dark corners, and pontification from oblivious patriarchs - but in August: Osage County, playwright Tracy Letts makes a bid for the most grand and outrageous possible rendering of these tropes. How wonderful then for Tulsa audiences that his play is set just a few miles from home, near Pawhuska, OK: while it takes a few scenes to become acquainted with the prickly Weston family, we can't help but be immediately understanding of their plains-induced malaise.

ID Examines Questionable Courtroom Convictions in REASONABLE DOUBT

As claims of innocence ring in prison cells across America, families of prisoners can be tormented by the questionable guilt of their loved ones. Driven by a desire to get to the truth, retired homicide detective Chris Anderson and criminal defense attorney Fatima Silva team up once again for a third season of REASONABLE DOUBT to help families who are convinced that their loved ones were wrongfully convicted of murder. With their parallel expertise of the law, Chris Anderson and Fatima Silva know that the system doesn't always get it right. Each episode of REASONABLE DOUBT begins with the loved ones of the convicted presenting evidence of their innocence. Anderson and Silva then set out on the intense process of re-examining a murder case, poring over evidence, interviewing witnesses and consulting experts previously overlooked by police or barred by the court. Each episode culminates with the gut-wrenching reveal to the family that either brings hope for an appeal, or clarity to accept the guilty verdict. With 10 powerful episodes examining whether justice was served, season three of REASONABLE DOUBT returns to Investigation Discovery on Tuesday, March 3 at 10/9c.

BWW Review: THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT at TheaterWorks Hartford

In today's world of a?oefake newsa?? and challenges to journalistic integrity, it is becoming increasingly difficult to tell fact from fiction. Add in the desire to both entertain and inform readers (and sell publications) and it can be easy to see how, today, trust may be harder than ever to find in the printed word. But who defines what exactly constitutes a fact, and when, if ever, is it ok to bend the truth in service of telling an important story? These are some of the questions explored in THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT, a play by Jeremey Kareken, David Murrell and Gordon Farrell now playing at TheaterWorks in Hartford.

BWW Review: THE TOXIC AVENGER: THE MUSICAL at Rorschach Theatre

With very few exceptions stage musicals based off of comic books and horror movies are never truly successful. You're a Good Man Charlie Brown and Little Shop of Horrors are two very rare examples where those genres succeeded commercially.
