The Boy and the Heron, the latest cinematic masterpiece from the legendary Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, will be released on July 9 to physical platforms, following its historic Academy Award® win for Best Animated Feature. The multi-award-winning stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s My Neighbour Totoro which recently wrapped up a successful return engagement the at Barbican Theatre, will transfer to London's West End in early 2025.

The animation studio from Hayao Miyazaki and Toshio Suzuki who has made such films as Spirited Away and 2023's The Boy and the Heron, will receive the Honorary Palme d’Or award at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. The Cannes Film Festival is an annual festival taking place in France, which showcases new films of all genres. In its 77th year, the upcoming festival will be on May 14 and 15.

Max and GKIDS renew their exclusive multiyear U.S. licensing deal for the Studio Ghibli catalogue, extending their partnership to bring beloved animated films to audiences. As part of the deal, Max will be the future home of the Oscar-winning and Golden Globe-winning film “The Boy and the Heron,” later this year.
