The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs has just announced the winners of the 2013 MAC Awards, which were presented last night at the 27th Annual MAC Awards Show. The awards ceremony was held at B.B. King Blues Club, and the show was directed by Lennie Watts and produced by Julie Miller. Lifetime Achievement awards were presented to Tom Wopat and Penny Fuller. The Board of Directors Award was presented to 54 Below, and a special award was presented in memory of Ruth Kurtzman. The Hanson Award was presented to Elaine St. George. The show was hosted by KT Sullivan, with music direction by Tracy Stark, and stage management by Amy Wolk.

Formed in 2012 by Tony Award-nominated actress, Hallie Foote, and her siblings, Daisy Foote, Walter Foote, and Horton Foote, Jr., the HORTON FOOTE LEGACY PROJECT (HFLP) is a new not-for-profit endeavor whose mission is to support emerging and established American playwrights and to preserve and advance the legacy of Horton Foote and his body of work. In an effort to achieve this mission, the organization is launching its inaugural Horton Foote Writer's Retreat, a program that gives writers the rare opportunity to reside and write undisturbed in Horton Foote's preserved Wharton, Texas home.

Heralded playwright Horton Foote, born March 14, 1916 would be 97 years old today. His play The Trip to Bountiful starts previews on Broadway March 30, 2013 and official opens April 23, 2013 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 W 43rd St) starring Cicely Tyson, Cuba Gooding, Jr, Vanessa Williams, Condola Rashad and Tom Wopat. Foote passed away on March 4, 2009.

The Stephen Sondheim Theatre will soon be home to the upcoming Broadway revival of Horton Foote's beloved classic, The Trip to Bountiful, starring Cicely Tyson, Cuba Gooding Jr., Vanessa Williams, Condola Rashad and Tom Wopat. Directed by Michael Wilson, The Trip to Bountiful will play a 14-week limited engagement, beginning previews on Saturday, March 30th at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 W 43rd St). Coming up this week, 54 BELOW, the performance venue located just below the legendary Studio 54 at 254 West 54th Street, presents some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz and beyond, including two-time Tony nominee Tom Wopat, Broadway star Elizabeth Stanley, BACKSTAGE award-winning vocalist, director and Broadway actor Eric Michael Gillett, singer/songwriter Tony Desare, singing sensation Hilary Kole, and multiple award-winner Sarah Rice.
