Lin-Manuel Miranda Hopes to Play HAMILTON in London, But Not in 2018

Hamilton opened its West End production last night and fans are already buzzing about whether or not the show's creator and original star, Lin-Manuel Miranda, plans to join the cast. According to BBC, Miranda said that he would like to come back to the role but it won't be until 2019 at the earliest.

HAMILTON opens tonight, 21 December 2017, on the West End. The West End cast comprises Christine Allado (Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds), Rachelle Ann Go (Eliza Hamilton), Tarinn Callender (Hercules Mulligan/James Madison), Michael Jibson (King George), Rachel John (Angelica Schuyler), Jason Pennycooke (Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson), Cleve September (John Laurens/Philip Hamilton), Giles Terera (Aaron Burr), Obioma Ugoala (George Washington) and Jamael Westman (Alexander Hamilton). At certain performances, the role of Alexander Hamilton will be played by Ash Hunter.

Michael Luwoye - who has starred in the title role in the National Tour of Hamilton since it opened earlier this year in San Francisco, before transferring to the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles (through December 30) - will officially succeed for Javier Mu oz on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theater (226 W. 46 St.) on January 16, 2018, producer Jeffrey Seller announces.

Ticket resales are the bane of every big name show and have gone to incredible price heights ever since HAMILTON hit Broadway. Now, the West End company is fighting the same fight. According to The Guardian, prices are currently peaking at 6,000. In an effort to combat this, the production is warning ticket buyers that they may be turned away if they present a resold ticket.

Tomorrow, December 7th, Museum of the City of New York will ceremonially unveil their newly restored historic nickel bronze statues of two legendary New Yorkers, Alexander Hamilton and Dewitt Clinton, designed three quarters of a century ago for the Museum by noted sculptor Adolph Alexander Weinman (1870-1952). For the occasion, the Museum will be joined by three stars of the immensely popular Broadway show, Hamilton: Jevon McFerrin, Lexi Lawson, and Anthony Lee Medina.

HAMILTON re-opens the newly rebuilt and restored Victoria Palace Theatre with previews beginning tonight (6 December 2017) with the official opening night taking place on 21 December 2017. HAMILTON is currently booking to 30 June 2018.
