59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) has announced their Summer 2023 Season.

In 2001, Baz Luhrumann's film welcomed the world to the Moulin Rouge. The film is credited as part of the resurgence of movie musicals in the early 2000s, and continues to be an audience favorite. After whispers of a stage adaptation for years and years, the dream became a reality in 2018 with an out-of-town tryout in Boston.  Moulin Rouge finally opened on Broadway in the Summer of 2019, as an instant hit. That Broadway season was cut short in March of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but when the season resumed in the Fall of 2021, it was nominated for 14 Tony Awards (winning 10, including best musical). The show finally embarked on its highly anticipated national tour in 2022.

Of all the theatre directors that the Met has marshalled into its forces, Simon McBurney--who brought his version of Mozart’s DIE ZAUBERFLOTE (THE MAGIC FLUTE) to the Met on Friday in his house debut--may be the most successful in melding music and theatre, storytelling and visual elements.

Dorset Theatre Festival has announced full casting for Stephen King's Misery, adapted for the stage by William Goldman, which will open the 46th Season (June 23 - July 8), and the director for the third show of the season, Kate Hamill's Ms. Holmes and Ms. Watson - Apt. 2B (August 11 - 26). 

Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival marks its 40th summer season in 2023. Long Island's longest-running classical music festival celebrates this milestone with 11 concerts, July 16 – August 13, that showcase a theme of “Beethoven as Innovator” alongside six of the festival's favorite works from four decades of commissioning new music: pieces by Elizabeth Brown, Kenji Bunch, Eric Ewazen, Bruce MacCombie, Kevin Puts, and Ned Rorem.

It marks the first release from the three-time GRAMMY Award-winning multi-platinum band since 2021 and debuted on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist worldwide. The band will perform the song live on the season finale of The Voice and debut the music video directed by David Dobkin, (RSA’s Black Dog Films producing) on May 23rd.
