Three friends embark on a joyous journey of sisterhood, discovering their inner 'duende' through a flamenco class for middle-aged women. Heart Song, the newest comedy/drama from Stephen Sachs (Bakersfield Mist, Cyrano), opens at The Fountain Theatre on May 25 with Shirley Jo Finney (In the Red and Brown Water) directing and choreography by internationally renowned flamenco dancer Maria "Cha Cha" Bermudez.
The Los Angeles County Arts Commission announced the 2013 John Anson Ford Theatres summer season. It marks the 20-year anniversary of the Ford Partnership Program, which nurtures locally-based artists, arts organizations and community, celebrating and reflecting on stage the diversity of the people of Los Angeles County. Forever Flamenco! presents Soleangeles - The mother song of flamenco, "Solea," is juxtaposed with (Los) "Angeles" to represent the hybrid mix of pure Gypsy flamenco and American jazz that has become the trademark of guitarist/artistic director Ethan Margolis. Headlining are two Gypsy performers from southern Spain: cantaora(singer) Kina Mendez and cantaor/bailaor (singer/dancer) Javier Heredia, plus top-notch flamenco dancers Fanny Ara and Cihtli Ocampo. Accompanying Margolis on guitar are Katisse Buckingham on flute, Hussain Jiffry on bass, Walter Rodriguez on percussion; and Ioannis Goudelis on keyboards.

Forever Flamenco! presents Ecos de Andalucia ("Echoes of Andalusia!") - Dancer/show director Adriana Maresma Fois and flamenco guitarist Juan Antonio Gomez return to Forever Flamenco from from Jerez de la Frontera in Andalucia, Spain via the flamenco "hub" of Albuquerque, New Mexico - the two towns between which the couple divides their time. Joining them on stage at the Fountain Theatre is 'formidable cantaor (singer) Antonio de Jerez and bailaores (dancers) Mizuho Sato, recognized for her deep interpretation of the cantes (songs) and assured technique, and Manuel 'de la Cruz' Gutierrez, known for extraordinary footwork and fierce passion.'

The Fountain Theatre has extended the Los Angeles premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's lusciously theatrical and boldly original In the Red and Brown Water through the end of February, in honor of Black History Month. Performances will continue through December 16 as previously scheduled, then resume on January 5 for an additional eight weeks through February 24.
