The Joseph Jefferson Awards have announced this year's Equity nominations, including 201 theater artists across 38 categories.  The 54th anniversary Equity Jeff Awards will take place October 17, 2022, at Drury Lane in Oakbrook, IL. 

TheaterWorks Hartford, under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Rob Ruggiero, has announced details for its upcoming 2022–2023 season which is filled with great music, captivating stories, and world-class writing.

Due to popular demand, The Story Theatre's Chicago premiere of  Marie Antoinette and the Magical Negroes is pleased to add one additional week of performances, extending through Sunday, July 24, 2022 on Raven Theatre's Schwartz Stage, 6157 N. Clark St. (at Granville) in Chicago.

The Story Theatre will present the Chicago premiere of MARIE ANTOINETTE AND THE MAGICAL NEGROES, written and directed by Chicago playwright and Governing Ensemble Member Terry Guest. This new play, which explores rebellion and Black liberation through the lens of the French Revolution, will play June 30 – July 17, 2022.

About Face Theatre continues its 27th season with the Chicago premiere of Terry Guest’s haunting new drama THE MAGNOLIA BALLET, running May 12 through June 11, 2022, at the Den Theatre. Following the story of a young Black man in Georgia who finds a shocking discovery among his grandfather's letters, THE MAGNOLIA BALLET explores the need to tear down the rules that are killing us in order to finally live. Associate Artistic Director Mikael Burke premiered this new work in March 2022 at Phoenix Theatre in Indianapolis and now brings the play to Chicago with playwright Terry Guest in the lead role.

Trustus Theatre will hold two special events the weekend of April 8 through April 10, 2022.  Following the Friday, April 8th performance of Terry Guest’s At the Wake of a Dead Drag Queen, Trustus will hold a late night Drag Show Extravaganza featuring performances by Alexia Bonet, Paris Lefaris, Anaya DeVore, Dorae Saunders, Samantha Hunter, and Nicole Roberts.

The Phoenix Theatre will present The Magnolia Ballet by Terry Guest, March 17 - April 10, 2022. Terry Guest is an award-winning Playwright, Actor, Producer, Poet and Teaching Artist based in Chicago, IL.

Trustus Theatre has announced that their new Executive Director, Jessica Francis Fichter, will start on January 4th, 2022. Fichter has a rich theatrical background including a B.A. in theatre education, an M. Ed in divergent learning, and an M.F.A in directing from the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University in New York City.

Guest, a Governing Ensemble member, served as The Story's Resident Playwright from 2019-2020, receiving three developmental workshops over the course of a year, culminating in a staged reading of Marie in early March 2020.
