The new Off-Broadway musical Between the Lines is now open at the Tony Kiser Theater at Second Stage. Between the Lines stars Arielle Jacobs as Delilah and Jake David Smith as Prince Oliver. Telly Leung, who played “Aladdin” opposite Arielle Jacobs' “Jasmine” on Broadway came to see BETWEEN THE LINES. What did our critic think? Yellow Face follows Asian-American playwright DHH. Fresh off his Tony Award win for M. Butterfly, he leads a protest against the casting of Jonathan Pryce as the Eurasian pimp in the original Broadway production of Miss Saigon, condemning the practice as 'yellowface.' His position soon comes back to haunt him when he mistakes a Caucasian actor, Marcus G. Dahlman, for mixed-race, and casts him as the lead Asian role of his own Broadway-bound comedy, Face Value. When DHH discovers the truth of Marcus' ethnicity, he tries to conceal his blunder to protect his reputation as an Asian-American role model by passing the actor off as a 'Siberian Jew.'

The team at The Legacy Theatre is bringing a powerhouse of a new work to the Legacy stage. Running July 7-16, Thursdays through Saturdays, is the second production of the Legacy's 2022 New Works Series - 'Awesomer and Awesomer.'

Out of 163 submissions, the San Diego State University New Musical Initiative has chosen In a Sunshine State as this year's selection. Writers T.C. Lind, Derek Gregor, and Phoebe Kreutz will join with director Stephen Brotebeck, music director Robert Meffe and the SDSU MFA Musical Theatre cohort for a two-year development process and world premiere in the spring of 2024.

The Green Room 42 has announced their 2022 Pride Week line-up for in-person performances.  As previously announced, The Green Room 42 has launched $5 tickets in celebration of their 5th Anniversary: five $5 tickets will be available for every show through February 14, 2023.

Yellow Face, directed by Telly Leung for Theatre Raleigh, blurs the lines between truth and fiction blur with hilarious and moving resulting in David Henry Hwang's unreliable memoir. Yellow Face plays June 22-July 3rd at the TR Studio Theatre, with tickets starting at $30.
