Tenacious D - comprised of Jack Black and Kyle Gass - have finally released a recorded version of their viral, fan-favorite live cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game.”  The cover comes on the heels of the band’s first new song in five years, “Video Games,” which has been streamed nearly 15 million times in less than a month.

On Wednesday, May 24, the Museum of the City of New York held its  CENTENNIAL GALA -- an evening of dinner, dancing, and the unveiling of its new exhibition, This Is New York: 100 Years of the City in Art and Pop Culture. 

You could feel the excitement stir in the audience from the moment the Stratford Festival’s Opening Night production of KING LEAR began on Tuesday evening. Orchestrations by Sean Mayes immediately set the tone as the audience visibly leaned forward in anticipation at the booming sound of timpani drums. Many an audience member remained leaning forward all night. Director, Kimberley Rampersad’s production - starring Paul Gross in the titular role - moved swiftly with excitement and intention towards its tragic end, keeping a firm hold on the audience the entire way.

Bill Taylor planned to hold the first ever Fringe Festival in Fort Myers in 2020, but a pesky disease called Covid19 stopped the event before it could get off the ground. Undaunted, Taylor rescheduled for June 2023.

Pride and Story: The Songs of Brandi Carlile is at The Cutting Room on June 30 with an all-queer cast and band. The 7 pm concert will celebrate the end of Pride Month by paying tribute to the nine-time Grammy Award winner with proceeds benefiting The Looking Out Foundation.

The cast of Out of the Box Theatrics’ Millennials Are Killing Musicals by Nico Juber, directed by Ciara Renée, will head into the studio this week to record its original cast album to be released this fall on Yellow Sound Label.

It seemed like such a fun show, with sassy lines, hilarious scenarios, and endearing characters. However, the logistics of the constant costume, set, and mood shifts seemed like a nightmare.
