The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts is thrilled to announce the final casting for the Ordway Original production of “42nd Street” which begins performances on July 23 and continues for 24 performances through Aug. 11.

Award-winning actor Denzel Washington will be the recipient of Crossroads Theatre Company's inaugural Ossie Davis & Ruby Dee Living Legends Award at its signature fundraising event, on October 19, 2019, the Crossroads Theatre Board announced today.  

Fourteen year old Ajibola Tajudeen, better known as Keeme, is the host of New Paradigm Theatre's web series now in it's third season here on BroadwayWorld. 'Konversations with Keeme' is show where Keeme interviews seasoned television and film professionals like Tamara Tunie of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and Renee Lawless of Tyler Perry's The Have and the Have Nots, as well as Broadway veterans such as Emmy and Grammy winner, Paul Bogaev, and Broadway pros Christine Dwyer, Kelly Grant, Juwan Crawley and more.

Jamibeth Margolis has been a  professional casting director in New York for 20 years. She was with Johnson-Liff Casting, Cameron Mackintosh, and Margolis-Seay Casting and is now out on her own as a freelance casting director. Previous credits include the Broadway and National Touring Companies of such hits as Les Miserables, The Phantom Of The Opera, Miss Saigon, Cats, and Jane Eyre as well as two dozen other shows on Broadway. She also currently casts for Off Broadway, National Touring Companies and shows for prominent regional theaters and all of the major theater festivals in NYC. Her casting office is dedicated to the development of new plays and musicals. Favorites of stage and screen took to the Irene Diamond Stage at the Pershing Square Signature Center last night to help The 24 Hour Plays mark its 24th anniversary with an intimate production of The 24 Hour Musicals. Erich Bergen, Jessica Hecht, Alex Moffat, Bonnie Milligan and Anthony Rapp were just a few of the exceptional group of artists who joined forces to write, compose, direct and perform four original musicals within 24 hours.

The 24 Hour Plays has just announced more participants that will help them mark their anniversary with an intimate production of The 24 Hour Musicals on Monday, June 17th at 8 PM on the Irene Diamond Stage at the Pershing Square Signature Center.

On June 14th at Guild Hall in East Hampton, NY, Andromeda's Sisters presents short plays by women headlining Blythe Danner, Laura Gomez and Catherine Curtin (Orange is the New Black), Susie Essman (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Tamara Tunie (Law & Order) and Ellen Marie Dolan (As The World Turns) among others from playwrights Joy Behar, Lucy Boyle, Julia Jordan, Anna Ziegler, Liana Sonenclar, Margo Hammond and Suzanne Bradbeer.

City Theatre is excited to announce the details of The Bash, a benefit evening for the South Side theatre company, entering its 45th season. The Bash is taking over Bingham Street for a block party like no other. Pop-up performances, signature cocktails, food trucks, and an outdoor dance party will fill its multi-location cultural campus located between 13th and 14th Streets.

Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre Company and Jujamcyn Theatres announce the winners for the 11th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition National Finals, held on Monday, May 6th at the August Wilson Theatre in New York. The first-place winner was Trajan Clayton from Perry, GA; second-place, Katara Willis from Buffalo, NY; and third place, Abad Viquez from Chicago, IL.
