Playwrights Horizons has announced a schedule of performances of its next two productions—Agnes Borinsky's The Trees, directed by Tina Satter and co-produced with Page 73 Productions, and Julia Izumi's Regretfully, So the Birds Are, directed by Jenny Koons and co-produced with WP Theater—for which it will provide various accessibility services.

The Latinx Playwrights Circle has announced the Off-Broadway Premiere of Christin Eve Cato's Sancocho directed by Rebecca Martinez, in partnership with WP Theater and The Sol Project.

Sancocho, a new play by Christin Eve Cato (The Good Cop, DUAF 2022) directed by Rebecca Martinez (Miss You Like Hell; Theatre for One: Here We Are) will have its Off-Broadway premiere at WP Theater in Spring 2023.

Playwrights Horizons will release the second volume of its pioneering literary magazine, Almanac, in print in December. With Almanac, the organization provides its singular community of playwrights and theater-makers an outlet for work in other mediums—essays, poems, drawings, and more.

The design team has been announced for Vineyard Theatre's Sandra. The newly announced design team includes scenic design by Tony Award winner Rachel Hauck, costume design by Tony Award winner Linda Cho, lighting design by Thom Weaver, and sound design by Kathy Ruvuna.

WP THEATER has announced the fifteen artists selected for the 2022-2024 WP Lab. The two-year residency begins now, and culminates with the biennial WP Pipeline Festival in 2024.

Kicking off the season will be David Cale’s Sandra, which reunites Cale and director Leigh Silverman following the acclaimed Harry Clarke, which premiered at the Vineyard in 2017.

Weightless will play a limited engagement from September 17–October 16, 2022 at WP Theater, with support from piece by piece productions. This season features a remarkable selection of plays, but starts its season with a spectacular reimagining of the operaCarmen with Carmen Jones, music by George Bizet, book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, followed by Patrick Barlow’s imaginative take on the timeless A Christmas Carol, then the Off-Broadway hit Selling Kabul, Lucy Kirkwood’s thought-provoking The Children, and ETC will close its season with an absolutely delicious play from acclaimed playwright Theresa Rebeck, Seared. 

The Dramatists Guild of America has announced further recipients for their 2022 Awards. The Awards for both 2021 and 2022 recipients will be presented at Joe’s Pub on Monday, July 25, 2022.
