Symphony Space has announced that, for its fall 2023 music residency, which gives artists the opportunity to showcase new work and nurture emerging talent, the institution has joined forces with Black Opry, the rapidly growing organization created to provide a home for Black artists in country, Americana, blues, and folk music.

Joe's Pub @ Astor, the live performance series presented in collaboration between Joe's Pub at the Public Theater and The Village Alliance, returns to Astor Place on Sunday, July 23 from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm. This kicks off the first of two events this summer, and will feature artists YahZarah and Greg Banks. The series is free and open to the public, outdoors on Astor Plaza.

St. Ann's Warehouse, responding to extraordinary demand for tickets, has announced a three-week extension of Monsoon Wedding, the Musical, Mira Nair's live theatrical adaptation of her landmark film. The new production, featuring actors and theater-makers from India and the global Indian diaspora, welcomes audiences inside the lavish wedding plans and frenzied leadup to an arranged marriage beset by modern tensions. Preview performances begin at the Brooklyn waterfront theater on May 6.

World Music Institute Presents Red Baraat 'Festival Of Colors'

Red Baraat's annual 'Festival of Colors' celebrates the Hindu holiday of Holi with a colorful array of South Asian sounds. Brooklyn-based Red Baraat is led by dhol player Sunny Jain. The band is known for its signature blend of hard-driving north Indian bhangra and elements of hip-hop, jazz and punk energy, with a mission of manifesting joy and unity in all people.
