What is described to some as crude humor to others is the best kind of humor. I was delighted to see that the touring production of Monty Python's Spamalot was touring and would be making a stop in St. Paul at the Ordway. Adapted from the 1975 film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this production moved to Broadway in 2005 and stars a lot of well-known names. The Broadway production was even nominated for 14 Tony awards and won three including Best Musical. The Broadway run even starred some now very big names including Tim Curry, David Hyde Pierce, Christian Borle and Sara Ramirez (Greys Anatomy). (more...)

Monty Python fans gathered in Jacksonville Monday night for Monty Python's Spamalot. Laughter erupted through the Moran Theatre at The Times Union Center for the Performing Arts as fans watched their favorite characters performing their favorite lines and jokes based on the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The show follows King Arthur and the Knights of the Round table on their voyage to find the Holy Grail. Accompanied by a great and comedic score, the show was greatly entertaining to all audience members, even those who were not familiar with Monty Python. It was a smash! (more...)

BWW Review: SPAMALOT at Lied Center For Performing Arts, LincolnBWW Review: SPAMALOT at Lied Center For Performing Arts, Lincoln
by Christine Swerczek - Nov 3, 2018

I don't like Spam. To me, it's mystery meat and I don't like the taste. I looked it up on the internet to see what it is made from. It was introduced by Hormel in 1937 to increase the sale of pork shoulder. Few know the true origination of the name 'Spam,' but suggestions include 'Specially Processed Army Meat.' My favorite more colorful descriptions are 'meatloaf without basic training' and 'ham that didn't pass its physical.' Spam has recently been adopted as the term for inappropriate or irrelevant messages that flood our inboxes. This all fits. (more...)

Aisle Say's favorite interview was yesterday, with King Arthur (Steve McCoy) of SPAMALOT, opening at The Playhouse on October 25 and running for 4 nights. Mais oui, a kindred spirit, but his career took a slightly different trajectory than mine; a 20-year-old moving to NYC in 1970, attempting to make it on Broadway (and failing miserably). (more...)

by Nicholas Pontolillo - Jun 2, 2018

Port Jefferson's Theater Three production of the musicial murder mystery romp Curtains is brilliant; it is a clever mash up of Columbo meets Kiss Me, Kate. Curtains is a wonderful show that reveals how a show's ensemble is not just its cast, but also its creative team. It emphasizes the importance of each and every talent involved with putting on a Broadway show. From the stage manager to the conductor; from the music team to the director. Theater Three's production successfully emits this theme. (more...)

The hooting, hollering, and Hail Marying the other evening at Theatre Three in Port Jefferson was for the fabulous five sisters of Hoboken in a rousing production of Dan Goggin's 'Nunsense!' We all need a good laugh now-a-days and Theatre Three's production of Paul Rudnick's play I Hate Hamlet certainly delivers. by Melissa Giordano - Nov 28, 2017

The show is wonderful to begin with; there is no doubt about that. Theatre Three's 34th annual production of the iconic Charles Dickens story A Christmas Carol has certainly become a beautiful tradition on Long Island. Even with slight changes throughout the years, this ageless production is as spectacular as ever. Jeffrey Sanzel, the Artistic Director of the Port Jefferson venue, directs the dazzling play running through December 30th. (more...)
