Two of the music industry's most popular and prolific musicians found themselves with ten weeks on their hands and nothing to do... but write and film music videos! Stephen Mosher chats with the team that is Spencer Day and Effie Passero.

SPENCER DAY – the unique #1 Billboard charting pop/jazz singer and songwriter who has appeared at venues from Lincoln Center to the Hollywood Bowl – and EFFIE PASSERO, the acclaimed 2018 “American Idol” finalist, have released a video of their new song “State of Emergency.” Written, recorded and filmed on a rooftop while unexpectedly under quarantine in Mexico, the song features Spencer Day on piano and vocals, Effie Passero on vocals, and Zoe Wood and Eduardo Leon on guitar.

Feinstein's at the Nikko will celebrate the arrival of the New Year with two special shows. Two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster will present An Evening with Sutton Foster at A.C.T.'s Geary Theater on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 9 p.m. Spencer Day, San Francisco Bay Area favorite and #1 Billboard jazz/pop singer and songwriter seen everywhere from Lincoln Center to the Hollywood Bowl, will present Swinging in the New Year at Feinstein's at the Nikko's intimate nightclub on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 8 p.m. Plans for a special countdown-to-midnight event at Feinstein's at the Nikko will be announced at a later date.

Spencer Day Wraps Up Shows at The Green Room 42 with Preview of New Album

Cabaret lovers will have many memories from the Mabel Mercer Foundation's 2019 New York Cabaret Convention. Attendees to all four of the presentations at Rose Theater will no doubt have their favorite music moments from the performances of the more than 75 cabaret artists. However, perhaps the most enduring remembrance will be the remarkable organizational abilities and intelligence of the foundations artistic director, it's face (and hat) of the convention… KT Sullivan. Just imagine how difficult it must be to satisfy the requirements of 75 singers, make their moment in the spotlight as successful as it can be, and cope with the egos that are a necessary part of every performers DNA. All the while fulfilling the sophisticated and knowledgeable audience's expectations of a great show. There were many highs and “almost highs” during the 12 hours of music, and that's what makes it so exciting. Every artist brings their own unique talent to the stage.

Back in the day, music filled the venues of Las Vegas, whether in showrooms, lounges, bars, and restaurants. Live entertainment outside of the Strip and downtown has returned with B-SIDE with The Jazz Eclectic Multicast Show to be performed at Proprietor's Reserve on Oct. 1.

In a combined triumph for the Classic Popular Songbook, its purveyors and adherents, and the professionalism and perseverance of THE MABEL MERCER FOUNDATION, that unique organization presents its 30th Annual New York Cabaret Convention at The Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, beginning Monday, October 28th and running through Thursday, October 31st. The four individual concerts will be offered at 6:00 PM each evening, and more than seventy-five vocalists and musicians are scheduled to perform. Tickets are on sale at the Jazz at Lincoln Center box office and www.jazz.org starting today, Monday, September 9.
