Seattle Shakespeare Company closes its 2017-2018 season with Shakespeare in Love, the delightful new stage adaptation of Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard's Academy Award-winning film. This warm and witty romantic comedy will be helmed by Seattle Shakespeare Company's Artistic Director George Mount. Originally produced by Disney Theatrical Productions and Sonia Friedman Productions and adapted for the stage by Lee Hall with music by Paddy Cuneen, Shakespeare in Love previews May 2 and 3, opens May 4 and runs through June 3 at the Cornish Playhouse at the Seattle Center.

Director Sam Gold makes his Young Vic debut with the five-time Tony award-winning musical Fun Home. Producers Sonia Friedman, Shakespeare's Globe and Paula Marie Black have announced that the Shakespeare's Globe production of FARINELLI AND THE KING, starring three-time Tony Award-winner and Academy Award winner Mark Rylance, recouped its capitalization costs on Broadway, officially entering the hit column.

SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE is a 2014 stage adaptation by Lee Hall of the 1998 Academy Award winning film by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard of the same name. It was first created under the auspices of Disney Theatrical Productions and Sonia Friedman Productions. The story concerns an imaginary love affair involving Viola de Lesseps (Claire Grasso) and playwright William Shakespeare (Stephen Mercantel) while he was writing Romeo and Juliet. Many of the characters are based on historical figures, and many of the characters, lines, and plot devices allude to Shakespeare's plays. The production, now playing at Austin Playhouse, is one of their biggest productions to date. This script has become one of the most produced plays in America this season, and rightfully so, as it as entertaining as the 1998 film was.

Orlando Bloom (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit, the Pirates of the Caribbean series) is to star in the West End as a cop who moonlights as a killer-for-hire in multi award-winning Tracy Letts' blackly comic thriller, Killer Joe. Book tickets here!
