Lyric Opera of Chicago is launcheing its 67th season with Sunday in the Park with Lyric's Rising Stars at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion on Sunday, August 29, at 6:00 p.m. This free outdoor performance is part of Chicago in Tune, a citywide festival celebrating our city's legendary music community.

The Met has announced a lineup of operas by Richard Strauss for its 69th week of Nightly Met Opera Streams, the company's ongoing series of encore Live in HD presentations and classic telecasts streamed on its website during the Covid-19 closure.

During the 2021-22 season, Jaime Martín will also resume work as Music Director of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) and Chief Conductor of the RTE National Symphony Orchestra in Dublin. In addition he will end his long and fruitful period as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Gävle Symphony Orchestra next summer, and prepare for his first term as Principal Guest Conductor of the Spanish National Orchestra.

The long-awaited reunion between the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and its patrons is scheduled for November 10, 2021, with 30 dynamic programs running through June of 2022. The return to live performances will be defined by the leadership of Music Director Gustavo Gimeno, who will mark his first complete season on the podium, conducting 11 subscription programs.

A major coup for Victoria's arts community, Maestro Martín is currently Music Director of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, where his appointment was extended in early June for an additional five years.

Our Magic Opera Flying Carpet Virtual Tour begins in Los Angeles with the Signature Recital by tenor Russell Thomas and pianist Kyung-Mi Kim. A native of  Miami, Florida, Thomas debuted as Pollione in LA Opera’s Norma. He sang Cavaradossi in Tosca and Titus in The Clemency of Titus . Next year, he will be Radames in Aida. Currently, he is the company's Artist in Residence.

The schedule includes a week featuring operas centered around morally admirable characters and the power of the human spirit, and a week of operas set in Paris, entitled City of Light.
