BWW Review: Ogunquit Playhouse's 2019 Production of JERSEY BOYS

After a successful run of Jersey Boys during the 2018 season, Executive Artistic Director, Bradford T. Kenney, kicked of the opening night of the 87th season at the Ogunquit Playhouse announcing, 'Jersey Boys 2.0.' You might say that success builds success. If a show can run to sold out audiences for eight weeks in 2018, might it be worth running the show again the following year?

The Carpenter Center Announces 25th Anniversary Season

The Executive Director of the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center, Megan Kline Crockett, unveils the 2019-20 season featuring a captivating collection of music, dance, comedy, speakers and family shows across five different performance series: Wit & Wisdom, Dance, WOW!, Sunday Afternoon Concert, and Cabaret. Located on the campus of California State University, Long Beach, the Carpenter Center launches its 25th anniversary season on Saturday, September 21, 2019. New series subscriptions are on sale now with single tickets on sale starting May 21, 2019. The Carpenter Center showcases a dazzling array of talent every year, enriching the Cal State Long Beach campus and the Southern California community, says Executive Director Megan Kline Crockett. We're inviting back some of our favorite performers for our 2019-2020 season as well as welcoming extraordinary artists new to our stage who reflect the broad cultural landscape of Southern California. As we begin our 25th anniversary season, we renew our commitment to celebrate wonder, diversity, and exceptional artistic achievement today and for the next 25 years. Czech Center Museum Houston Founder Effie Rosene Passes Away

Effie Marie Sojak Rosene passed away early Mother's Day morning, May 12, 2019. She was born November 10, 1932 to Frank Sojak and Christine Lezak Sojak, Czech immigrant farmers, in the Frydek/Simonton area of Texas. She grew up in the Rio Grande Valley with 15 brothers and sisters and graduated from Rio Hondo High School. She attended St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Houston. She was working as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital when she met the love of her life, Willard George (Bill) Rosene.

Laughter is on the Menu at NKU's Commonwealth Theatre

Commonwealth Theatre Company at Northern Kentucky University's School of the Arts is proud to present the Noel Coward comedy of FALLEN ANGELS, and the farewell production of CHURCH GIRLS: THE MUSICAL. A buffet dinner will be served in the NKU SOTA Art Gallery with performances taking place in the NKU Robert & Rosemary Stauss Theatre.

Richard O'Neill Concludes Residency at The Broad Stage

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica presents the final concert of the 2018-2019 season with violist Richard Yongjae O'Neill, its artist in residence. On Sunday, May 26 at 2:00 pm, O'Neill performs a program called L.A. Masters with works by Stravinsky, Schoenberg and Brahms with Jennifer Frautschi (violin), Jesse Mills (violin), Fred Sherry (cello), and Orion Weiss (piano).

Walk Like A Woman! Olivia Valli, Granddaughter of Frankie Valli, Joins JERSEY BOYS

Oh what a night May 20 will be! Olivia Valli, the granddaughter of Four Seasons frontman and leading character in Jersey Boys Frankie Valli, is set to join the company of Jersey Boys on May 20. Valli, in what is considered a first in stage history, will portray Frankie Valli's first wife and her own grandmother, Mary Mandel.

Conversations in Bed at Powerstories Theatre was like taking a tape recorder to the audience, me included and writing down the serious, heartfelt and other times furious and ridiculous conversations we've had with our significant others before putting our heads on the pillow. Oohs, ahhs, and groans from the audience – proving just how relatable the mingled storylines were – stayed as a backdrop throughout the run of the 90-minute show.

Times Square Alliance Announces Jean Cooney as Director of Times Square Arts

The Times Square Alliance announced today the appointment of Jean Cooney, the current Deputy Director of Creative Time, as the Director of Times Square Arts. Cooney will be responsible for overseeing the Alliance's public art program, following 7 years at Creative Time, where she played a lead role in the organization's major artist commissions, public programming, engagement initiatives, and cultural partnerships.
