Irish Repertory Theatre (Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director; Ciarán O'Reilly, Producing Director) will present The Friel Project, a retrospective of the work of renowned Irish playwright Brian Friel, to take place from October 2023 through May 2024.

California post-punk outfit FEARING follow their 2020 debut LP Shadow with their sophomore LP Destroyer set for release in September.  Destroyer sees the core trio fostering their sound by continuing to migrate towards the sonic realms that capture the fine equilibrium allying the somber, austere, the vigorous, and vibrant.

Pearl Cleage’s Blues for an Alabama Sky, directed by Candis C. Jones (The Public Theater: shadow/land; Studio Theater: Clyde’s) is currently running at Barrington Stage Company. I teasingly have been calling this 1776 - THE FOUNDING MOTHERS EDITION all week, and it is finally here at the Hobby Center brought in by Theatre Under the Stars. This is a New York cast hitting Houston for a three night stop of a national tour. My question is, does it really make that much of a statement? The script for the show remains what it has been since 1776 debuted on Broadway back in 1969.

The Can Can has never been one to shy away from sexual boundaries. Hell, emcee Jonathan Betchtel will flirt with anyone he lays his eyes on. But now with their new show, “Crimson and Clover”, they’ve ventured into their first unabashedly queer storyline, still with their usual sparkle and humor. And the result is, of course, another deliciously sexy winner.
