Tickets Go On Sale Tomorrow for Second Stage's SUPERHERO

Continuing its 40th Anniversary Season, which began with the Broadway production of Young Jean Lee's Straight White Men, Second Stage Theater has announced that single tickets for the upcoming world premiere musical, SUPERHERO, will go on sale on Thursday, November 15 at 12:00pm.

Stand up, be visible, be present as 92Y's Fierce Fridays celebrates a queer-inclusive Shabbat dinner on Friday, November 30 with special guest Kate Bornstein - actress, writer, activist, and trailblazer. Kate whose Gender Outlaw is one of the most iconic books on gender identity, shares ideas, conversation, and fun while keeping the essence of Shabbat alive. Kate is joined by Phillip Picardi, editor-in-chief of OUT Magazine. Activist and Jewish educator Abby Stein helps lead and welcome in Shabbat. Break bread (or challah), celebrate self-love, welcome Shabbat, expand your community, and join us for a night to remember. This dinner - with kosher-style menu exclusively curated by The Eddy - is open to all. Beer and wine included.

June Squibb Joins Cast of WAITRESS as Josie; Nicolette Robinson Extends Thru December 9

Waitress is shaking things up at the diner (but not too many things)! Academy Award nominee June Squibb (Nebraska) will join the company as "Josie", the role formerly known as "Joe", from November 19- January 6, 2019. This will mark the first time this role will be played by a woman. The show's leading lady Nicolette Robinson, has extended her stay at the diner until December 9.

Second Stage Theater Will Host Fall Benefit Honoring Harvey Fierstein

Second Stage Theater, now celebrating its 40th Anniversary, will host their Fall Benefit on Monday, November 12 at Terminal 5 (610 West 56th Street), honoring Tony Award winner and Second Stage Theater alum Harvey Fierstein. New Board Members Join Team at Second Stage Theater

Currently celebrating its 40th Anniversary Season, Second Stage Theater has announced that Terry Lindsay, a current Trustee of the Board, and Timothy J. McClimon, Trustee and President, American Express Foundation and Senior Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility, American Express, have been elected as Co-Chairs of Second Stage's Board of Trustees, effective September 1, 2018. Additionally, Laurie Erlandson and Peter Lichtenthal have both been voted on as new members of the Board of Trustees. Former Chairman Stephen C. Sherrill will remain on the Board, joining Tony Kiser as a Chairman Emeritus.

Second Stage Theater Postpones Start Of Previews For STRAIGHT WHITE MEN

The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 19 categories for the 33rd Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards will be presented on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00 PM EST.  This year's event will be hosted by actors Laura Benanti and Jason Jones and will once again serve as a benefit for The Actors Fund.

Faye Driscoll, hailed as “a postmillenium postmodern wild woman” (Deborah Jowitt, The Village Voice) for her work that is a “tour de force of performance and direction” (Brian Seibert, The New York Times), receives the 12th Annual Jacob's Pillow Dance Award. The Bessie Award-winning choreographer, director, and alumnus of The School at Jacob's Pillow joins a group of honorees that includes Annie-B Parson and Paul Lazar of Big Dance Theater, Kyle Abraham of Abraham.in.Motion, Michelle Dorrance of Dorrance Dance, Camille A. Brown of Camille A. Brown & Dancers, and Liz Lerman of Dance Exchange. The Award will be formally presented as part of the Jacob's Pillow Season Opening Gala on June 16, 2018 followed by the presentation of Driscoll's work at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival for the second consecutive summer, August 1–5.

Designed by David Rockwell of Rockwell Group, this landmarked, newly renovated venue has become, under Second Stage's ownership, the first Broadway theater dedicated exclusively to living American Playwrights.

 A full production of Anna Deavere Smith's “Notes from the Field” opened in late 2016 at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Mass., and immediately transferred to off-Broadway, opening at Second Stage Theater in New York. In this unique one-woman show, Smith dramatized the accounts of students, parents, teachers and administrators affected by American's school-to-prison pipeline, which pushes underprivileged, minority youth out of the classroom and into incarceration.
