Emerson Steele and Kelly Lamor Wilson put together a dynamite show to celebrate female empowerment. The hit Broadway musical Waitress bursts onto the stage at Robinson Performance Hall in Little Rock before a packed house. The enthusiastic crowd was eating it up like it was one of Jenna's delicious pies. This cast was as sharp and crisp as the cold night air. Jessie Mueller was a little-known performer from Chicago when she made her Broadway debut in On a Clear Day You Can See Forever in 2011. Since then, she has taken Broadway by storm, appearing in three Broadway revivals (Nice Work If You Can Get It, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and Carousel) and creating two original characters (Beautiful and Waitress)- the former of which earned her a Tony Award in 2014.

Waitress audiences have an additional chance to see 2020 Grammy Award winner Sara Bareilles and Olivier and Tony Award-winning actor Gavin Creel as new performance dates have been added following a rapturous critical and public reception at the Adelphi Theatre. Sara Bareilles, who wrote the music and lyrics for Waitress, is making her West End debut in the lead role of Jenna with Gavin Creel as Dr Pomatter having previously performed together on the Broadway run. They will be extending for a further two weeks, now appearing through to 21 March 2020.

Lucie Jones has certainly earned her musical theatre stripes in the past few years. Stints in Rent, Legally Blonde, and more recently Waitress, have cemented her as one of our most accomplished musical theatre actresses. And last night during Lucie Jones Live at the Adelphi, as theatreland came together to celebrate her talents, Jones showcased her authentic self and it was a delight to witness.

If you do not yet know the name Keri René Fuller A.) You should, and B.) Trust me, you will. Fuller, who just returned from a year of touring with 'Cats' as Grizabella - Which should tell you enough about the vocal prowess of this performer - made her way to the cozy, trendy stage of The Green Room 42 last night to debut her first ever solo show. And what a debut it was.

Sara Bareilles is currently making her West End debut in WAITRESS, playing Jenna alongside Gavin Creel as Dr. Pomatter. On the show's Twitter account, Bareilles revealed some of the 'ingredients' that make up hit song 'She Used To Be Mine' in a new series called #WaitressUnbaked - watch the video below!

Tamara Tunie has been set to star in Ghost Bike, a dramatic indie short film, directed and written by Mark Blane (upcoming recurring role in the J.J. Abrams/Sara Bareilles helmed AppleTV+ drama Little Voice). Ghost Bike is Blane's follow-up to his debut feature film Cubby which had an international festival run and North American release in theaters and on VOD platforms in 2019. Cubby, which Blane starred in, wrote, and co-directed, was recently nominated in the 'Buried Treasure' category of the 26th Annual Chlotrudis Awards for Independent Film. Shooting for Ghost Bike gets underway this month in New York City.

Forget that other show. I was in the REAL room where it happened last weekend at the 4th Annual Junior Theater Festival West (JTF), which celebrates youth theatre and encourages students and teachers to keep theatre alive in their community. Each year it follows the Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, which just finished its 15th season. Over 2,200 people participated in the three-day festival, some coming from as far away as Australia, England, and South Korea. Students and educators benefited from the knowledge of top Broadway professionals in the form of adjudications, workshops, and a discussion panel entitled Pathways to Success, in which the featured guests shared how they forged their own paths to Broadway and beyond.
