Center Theatre Group is announcing six new commissions as an extension of Not a Moment, But a Movement initiative created to amplify, center and celebrate Black voices.

The Dramatists Guild of America and National Queer Theater will present “Dreaming the Queer Future: TGNC Representation and Playwrights in the American Theatre” on July 10 at 11:20am at BroadwayCon.

Acclaimed Black Filipinx playwright and Kilroys List honoree Roger Q. Mason will star as Taffeta in the World Premiere of their much-anticipated play Lavender Men with Skylight Theatre Company and Playwrights’ Arena in Los Angeles, August 6-September 4.

The Playthings Theatre, an LGBTQ+ Theatre Company in New York City, will be performing its gala concert PlayFresh on Tuesday, May 31st at 7:00pm at The Irish Repertory Theatre. PlayFresh is an evening of new LGBTQ+ music performed by the community's finest performers. Playthings will be honoring Paul Rudnick with The P.R.I.D.E. Performing Arts Award for his contribution to theatre and the LGBTQ+ community.

Theater in Asylum, a New York-based ensemble-driven independent theater company, today announced the latest endeavor in the Company's cabaret series, The FTP Cabaret, a night of theater, dance, music and poetry inspired by the legacy of the Federal Theatre Project. The show will run from Friday, May 13, 2022 through Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Jalopy Theatre in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

The Fled Collective will collaborate with The 24 Hour Plays for a special edition of The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues tonight on Instagram @thefledcollective with additional behind the scenes content @24hourplays. Beginning at 6 PM, new monologues will be published every 15 minutes.

The Fled Collective will collaborate with The 24 Hour Plays and The Other Side of Silence (TOSOS) for additional programming this Spring, ahead of their inaugural season.

On March 10, 2022 New York City’s Obie Award-winning The Fire This Time Festival will release an anthology entitled 25 Plays from The Fire This Time Festival: A Decade of Recognition, Resistance, Resilience, Rebirth and Black Theatre.

MCC Theater announced that they will host Jubilee for a New Vision: A Celebration of Trans and Gender Non-conforming Artists (TGNC), presented by National Queer Theater in partnership with The Dramatists Guild of America.

National Queer Theater and The Dramatists Guild of America will present Jubilee for a New Vision: A Celebration of Trans and Gender Non-conforming Artists on Monday, February 21 at 7pm at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space (511 W 52nd Street, New York, NY 10019), presented as part of Carnegie Hall’s citywide 2022 Afrofuturism Festival.

This February and March, Carnegie Hall will present Afrofuturism, a citywide festival exploring the thriving aesthetic and cultural movement that looks to the future through a Black cultural lens, intersecting music, visual art, literature, politics, science fiction, and technology.

In alignment with Skylight’s mission for continued growth and development, the company has welcomed Armando Huipe as the new Executive Director, effective January 2022. Armando moves into the position most recently occupied by Sandee Grossman, who now fills the job of Managing Director.

Skylight Theatre Company and Playwrights' Arena announce the cancellation of Fluff by Sigrid Gilmer, originally scheduled to be the second show of their collaborative season. Uncertainty about the Omicron variant and its impact on mounting the production were cited as reasons for the schedule change.

Staged readings of six new plays currently in development by IAMA Theatre Company will be presented over the course of one weekend, November 11 through 14, as part of the company's annual New Works Festival.

Peppermint (she/her) will host an online conversation with the recipients of the 2021-22 New Visions Fellowship, Ayla Xuan Chi Sullivan (they/them) and Nick Hadikwa Mwaluko (he/they), along with New Visions Lead Mentor, Roger Q. Mason (they/them) on the importance of transgender and gender non-conforming representation in the American Theatre.

This partnership with Gary Grossman's Skylight Theatre Company and Jon Lawrence Rivera's Playwrights' Arena realizes a simpatico focus on nurturing and developing playwrights and their new works.
