Corky Hale, legendary jazz harpist, pianist, vocalist, and social activist, will sign copies of her new book, "Corky Hale Uncorked," on Wed., Jan. 16 at 7 PM at Book Soup in West Hollywood.

'Bring it On' meets 'Dreamgirls' in the girl-group musical, 'Betty and the Belrays' by William Electric Black aka Ian Ellis James, which will be presented by Theater for the New City January 31 to February 17. The piece tells the story of three white female singers from Detroit who struggle to change a racially divided society by singing for a black record label. Book and lyrics are by William Electric Black. Music is by Black, Valerie Ghent (arranger/keyboards for Ashford & Simpson) and Gary Schreiner. Choreography is by Jeremy Lardieri. Director is Mr. Black.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Georgetown University celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a free, ticketed musical tribute titled Let Freedom Ring!

Dubbed the biggest American soul compilation show ever to tour UK theatres, A Soulful Night to Remember comes to Edinburgh Playhouse on Sunday 17 March as part of its UK tour.

On Today, November 16, three groundbreaking contemporary dance companies perform on the Auditorium Theatre's landmark stage in the "Made in Chicago" 312 Dance Series. The evening features Ate9 Dance Company, performing the work calling glenn with live music from Chicago-based percussionist Glenn Kotche (Wilco); Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, performing Kevin Iega Jeff's Church of Nations, Kevin Iega Jeff and Gary Abbott's Heaven, and Nicole Clarke-Springer's Until Lambs Become Lions; and Visceral Dance Chicago, performing company founder Nick Pupillo's Soft Spoken.

Legendary jazz harpist-pianist-singer Corky Hale, who has performed with some of the greatest stars in music history, as well as been a pioneering social activist, is publishing a new biography this month, 'Corky Hale Uncorked,' written by Jerry Leichtling and Arlene Sarner. 

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica presents Billy Valentine, today, November 2 at 8:00pm.  Billy Valentine is the third evening of blackbox @ the edye, which transforms The Edye into a club featuring up-and-coming jazz and blues artists.  The series is curated and hosted by The Reverend Shawn Amos; he and his house band perform at select shows during the season as well.

Leslie Odom, Jr. opened the Lied Center for Performing Arts' 29th Season in a spectacular way. Combining charm, humor, and an incomparable musical ability, Odom, Jr. brought the full house to its feet not once, but twice.

Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts,  which brings audiences world-class theater, dance and music performed by many of the most sought-after artists,presents Chris Walden Big Band with a program that pays tribute to the "Rat Pack" era on Saturday, October 27, 2018, 7:30 pm,in the Bram Goldsmith Theater at The Wallis. Walden, a seven-time Grammy-nominated composer/arranger/conductor, has scored more than 40 feature and TV films and written more than 1,500 orchestral and big band arrangements for artists ranging from Aretha Franklin, Paul McCartney and Barbra Streisand to Diana Krall and Rihanna, among many others.

Adelaide singer and cabaret artist Mel McCaig will premiere her first solo show, Gifts from the King, on 16 and 17 November at Holden Street Theatres as part of the 2018 Feast Festival.

Following a sold-out engagement in 2015, Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and actress Melissa Manchester returns to Feinstein's at the Nikko with her new show, The Fellas, on Friday, October 5 (8 p.m.) and Saturday, October 6 (8 p.m.). More than 25 years after Melissa Manchester released "Tribute," her 1989 album that honored the great female singers who influenced her, she turns the tables with "The Fellas," a radiant new encomium to the men, including Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, and Dean Martin, and the iconic songs they made famous. In this intimate evening, Manchester will salute the men (and ladies) of song, as well as perform several of her own classic hits.

Husband-and-wife duo John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey make their annual fall pilgrimage to Cafe Carlyle with an all-new show, American Stories, November 6-17. The New York Times recently described John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey as "the supreme nightclub act of our time." A world-renowned guitarist and singer, John Pizzarelli has been entertaining audiences for over 20 years and has established himself as one of the prime contemporary interpreters of the Great American Songbook. Jessica Molaskey is a veteran of a dozen Broadway shows including the revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Sunday in the Park with George, which was nominated for nine Tony Awards. TIME has raved, "Sophisticated, jazzy and engaging, the Astaire-Rodgers of the cabaret world are at the top of their game."
