The New York Philharmonic will present the seventh season of The Art of the Score, September 11a?"14, 2019, featuring two New York Premiere screenings, both conducted by Richard Kaufman: Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind in Concert, with John Williams's score performed live to the film, and Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho in Concert, with Bernard Herrmann's score performed live to the film. Actor and Philharmonic Board Member Alec Baldwin returns as Artistic Advisor of The Art of the Score, which explores some of the most distinctive uses of music in film.

Goodwill Cultural Ambassador Ronald Rand will represent the United States, performing in his internationally celebrated solo play, LET IT BE ART! bringing to life Harold Clurman, 'the elder statesman of the American Theatre in the Colombo International Theater Festival, in Colombo, Sri Lanka on August 4th.

Following the screening, Mr. Alves will explore the making of Close Encounters and behind-the-scenes challenges including creating the massive alien ships, moderated by Thomas A. Walsh, ADG, Production Designer and ADG Film Society Co-chair. The annual 2019 Screening Series Production Design: Designers On Design, highlighting the work of renowned Production Designers and their creative collaborations, is in association with American Cinematheque.

Montalvo Arts Center invites movie-lovers to sit under the stars and enjoy classic movies with Sunset Cinemas. Part of its Summer Nights Series, the free screenings of The Wizard of Oz, Grease, and Jaws will take place on the front lawn of Montalvo, where guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or low chair to set up. Beer, wine, and snacks will also be available for purchase on-site.

The Art Directors Guild (ADG) Film Society and the American Cinematheque are co-hosting the annual 2019 Screening Series “Production Design: Designers On Design” highlighting the work of renowned Production Designers and their creative collaborations. Just in time for Valentine's Day, acclaimed singers-songwriters-entertainers Will & Anthony Nunziata release a brand-new version of their original song “The Gift Is You” - a song they wrote with hit-songwriter Jeff Franzel. The brothers wrote the song last year after learning of their mother's breast cancer diagnosis. Now in remission, “Mama Nunz” is celebrated in a gorgeous music video of the song, with Tony Award Winner Cady Huffman giving a moving performance as Mom.
