From the brilliant mind of Joe Dowling, comes the Guthrie Theatre's newest production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest, that is certain to go down as one of the more legendary productions in the Guthrie's storied history.

The Guthrie Theater today announced casting for William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, directed by former Artistic Director Joe Dowling, who returns to direct at the Guthrie for the first time since his tenure with the organization ended in 2015.

At its annual meeting today, the Guthrie Theater (Joseph Haj, Artistic Director) reflected on the organization's 2020–2021 fiscal year, which began September 1, 2020, and ended August 31, 2021. While onstage performances were shuttered due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Guthrie reached audiences through virtual programming and events, connecting communities during a time when healing and inspiration were greatly needed.

This week, A Christmas Carol dazzles its way back to the Guthrie. After co-directing Dickens' Holiday Classic, a film adaptation of A Christmas Carol during the 2020 holiday season, artistic director Joseph Haj is directing the 47th production of this classic at the Guthrie Theater.
