Florida Studio Theatre Presents MAYTAG VIRGIN Beginning This Month

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) presents Maytag Virgin, an uplifting Southern love story by Audrey Cefaly, a Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright. Called “Touching” and “A real joy to see” by DC Metro Theatre Arts, Maytag Virgin is a heartfelt comedy about love, loss, life, and laundry.

FST Announces Featured Guests For Women's Suffrage Centennial Celebration Taking Place August 20

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) announces the lineup for its virtual event on August 20, 2020, celebrating the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage. Award-winning journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault, City of Sarasota Mayor Jen Ahearn-Koch, and Suffragist Project Director Kate Alexander will each speak at the theatre's special online celebration, along with a slate of talented artists.

FST Presents The World Premiere Production Of PARALYZED

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) presents the World Premiere of Paralyzed by Etan Frankel, a striking story of guilt, personal responsibility, and the power of forgiveness. In this dramatic new play, the discovery of a mysterious suicide note in Georgia hotel bathroom sets two strangers' lives in unforeseen directions. This production marks the first World Premiere presented as part of FST's Stage III Series. Paralyzed runs from March 18 to April 10 in FST's Bowne's Lab Theatre. Florida Studio Theatre Receives Grant From The National Endowment For The Arts

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) announces that it has been approved for a $15,000 Art Works grant to support The Suffragist Project: Celebrating 100 Years of the Woman's Right to Vote. In honor of this historic milestone, The Suffragist Project has brought together over 60 community partners, each creating their own artistic, cultural, and educational programming. As part of FST's contribution to The Project, the theatre has launched Historically Speaking, an educational touring program; commissioned four playwrights to develop new plays inspired by the movement for women's suffrage; and created an original devised play. The grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) will support these artistic initiatives, as well as FST's Dangerous Ladies Festival, a weekend-long culminating celebration in August 2020 of the new theatrical work created over the course of The Project.

Due to audience demand, Florida Studio Theatre (FST) announces that the five-time Tony Award winner The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time has now been extended through March 24 in FST's Gompertz Theatre. Called "Remarkable" and "Ingenious" by The Guardian, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time follows Christopher Boone, a brilliant teenager who sees the world in ways that most of us can only imagine.
