For her 4th CD release, vocalist/violinist Calabria Foti wanted to do an album like her vocal heroes Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Judy Garland, and Nat “King” Cole did back in the day; that is, with a big orchestra and legendary arrangers on the podium in an iconic Hollywood recording studio. Ms. Foti says, “This is the most expansive project I have ever done, and at the same time, it's the most intimate and personal. I recorded at Capitol Records with a full orchestra, singing some of the most endearing, sentimental songs ever written, all for my loved ones. This album is a full-production tear-jerker!”

The Carpenter Center Announces 25th Anniversary Season

The Executive Director of the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center, Megan Kline Crockett, unveils the 2019-20 season featuring a captivating collection of music, dance, comedy, speakers and family shows across five different performance series: Wit & Wisdom, Dance, WOW!, Sunday Afternoon Concert, and Cabaret. Located on the campus of California State University, Long Beach, the Carpenter Center launches its 25th anniversary season on Saturday, September 21, 2019. New series subscriptions are on sale now with single tickets on sale starting May 21, 2019.
The Carpenter Center showcases a dazzling array of talent every year, enriching the Cal State Long Beach campus and the Southern California community, says Executive Director Megan Kline Crockett. The Annenberg Center and NextMove Dance present BODYTRAFFIC, the Los Angeles dance company making an international name for itself, April 26 (8 PM) and April 27 (2 PM and 8 PM). Blending contemporary, hip hop, jazz and ballet, the ensemble will perform a program of Philadelphia premieres, including A Million Voices, a work set to Peggy Lee classics by Pennsylvania Ballet resident choreographer and BalletX co-founder, Matthew Neenan, and the world premiere of Resolve by Wewolf. The program also includes Fragile Dwellings by Stijn Celis, George & Zalman by Ohad Naharin, and o2Joy by Richard Siegal.

After leading the West End cast of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, Cassidy Janson formed part of the Leading Ladies trio and appeared in the English National Opera's production of Chess as Florence. She now returns to the London Coliseum stage as the alternate Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, sharing the role with Danielle de Niese. Cassidy spoke to Broadway World about the show.
