Daring sword fights, beheadings, mob rule, a wedding and a prince! What more could you ask for? As the Reign of Terror reaches its bloody climax in 1794, a brave band of Englishmen risk their lives to rescue the intended victims of the guillotine. Their leader is an enigmatic hero known only by his calling card: the red, star-shaped wildflower, the Scarlet Pimpernel. Based on the classic novel by Baroness Orczy, the musical vividly portrays the romance, intrigue and horrors of one of the most tumultuous periods in history, mixing historical fact with dramatic adventure. Performances run May 18th thru May 21st, 2017 at Little Theatre Off Broadway, 3981 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. For reservations/more info visit: http://www.ltob.org or call 614-875-3919

The second season of ABC's medieval musical comedy GALAVANT opens with a song entitled 'A New Season,' a direct response to the nearly unanimous opinion that it would be cancelled after its initial eight-episode run. However, despite middling numbers, ABC brought the quirky show from Dan Fogelman, Alan Menken, and Glenn Slater back this January. While I thought the sophomore season's comedy and storytelling were far superior to the often meandering first season's, Season 2 has struggled to find an audience, rarely able to garner even half the rating's share of Season 1. So, while it is looking extremely unlikely that ABC will roll the dice on the show again, if they do, I have some suggestions for Team GALAVANT that I think will give them a fighting chance in Season 3.

Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW presented Bernard Shaw's madcap comedy TOO TRUE TO BE GOOD at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan. David Staller produced and directed. In TOO TRUE TO BE GOOD, a glamorous pair of jewel thieves (Charles Busch and Robert Cuccioli) convince a chronic young convalescent (Ryann Redmond) to steal her own jewels and run away with them to a tropical paradise. Her over-protective mother (Jackie Hoffman) comes chasing after them and a riotous time is had by all. This is Shaw's 1931 madcap high-comedy journey, which takes on fad diets, the medical profession, the military, war, religion, and sex. It's a short and lively comedic lark.
