The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and Royal Court Theatre have announced the London transfer of Charlie Josephine's rollicking queer western Cowbois. 

Cowbois might sound like a reboot of Sister Act but there is far more going under the satin bonnets. Gunslinger Jack Cannon (Vinnie Heaven) arrives in a small Wild West-era outpost, handsome by appearance, fearsome by reputation and with a bounty of 200 dollars on their head. The town is populated only by women and a drunken sheriff (Paul Hunter), their menfolk having been gone for over a year and presumed dead after a mine blast. 

Casting has been announced for the Royal Shakespeare Company's forthcoming production of Charlie Josephine's new play, Cowbois. 

It’s the obvious legend to draw upon in our current age of police brutality, austerity, and the withdrawal of the right to protest - and when you have a stage surrounded by an almost-forest, it should be the perfect fit. This summer at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Carl Grose turns his attention to the retelling of Robin Hood, promising a hero unlike those you’ll have previously seen on the small and silver screen.

At a time when we're getting too many words, words, words from a bumbling Prime Minister and his cronies, what a relief to discover a charming, kind and life-affirming silent movie-style production that harks back to simpler times. Charlie Chaplin will now be played by Danielle Bird, joining Jerone Marsh-Reid as Stan Laurel, Nick Haverson as Fred Karno and Sara Alexander playing all the other parts, including Chaplin's mother, and the piano! 

David Pugh, the renowned theatre company Told by an Idiot and Theatre Royal Bath Productions present Charlie & Stan created by Told by an Idiot, written and directed by Paul Hunter.  It will open in Bath on 14 July and then play the Minack Theatre, Cornwall from 1 August.  Further dates prior to the West End are to be announced.

Told By An idiot's hit play The Strange Tale Of Charlie Chaplin And Stan Laurel will hit the road in the UK this year, including a stop on the West End. 

Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 2, the school's University Productions department will release six productions over the course of three weeks. A new production will be released every Wednesday and Friday through December 18. All performances will be free and available to the public for a limited time.

Adjusted for Covid constraints, next year's festival will concentrate on live and online workshops led by top industry professionals, a series of specially commissioned short films to be shown online, a collection of rarely shown physical comedy and slapstick movies at Barbican Cinema 1, plus Zoom talks by various distinguished mime festival participants from recent years.
