Blue Man Group has been described as hard to describe. Maybe so; they are certainly easy to love. Three bald and blue men have been exploring the world onstage since their debut at New York's Astor Place Theatre in 1991; they bring music, comedy and surprises at every turn. The Harris Center presents Blue Man Group in their new tour, Speechless, for eight shows.

Mix Mozart with 80's New Wave hits, Roman intrigue with sports rivalries, a stinky but accurate Oracle whose all-seeing eyeballs are made of ping pong rackets studded with tennis balls, and five separate courses of yummy edible treats serve to an audience that lounges on lawn chairs and picnic blankets, in a series of 14 different public gardens or farms over 8 weekends, and what do you have? MIxed Precipitation's 11th annual Picnic Operetta, of course, one of the most fun and inventive community art productions I've ever seen. Only in Minnesota.

Caroline Kingsbury writes & produces Pop Rock in Los Angeles, CA alongside her cat Billy. You may see her frequenting the 99 cent store to buy cereal and listening to The Cure. Kingsbury unintentionally looks like Robert Smith with blue hair mixed with an Elvis impersonator.

With nearly 10 years of "great shows, up close," the Harris Center provides not one, but three stages for artists from all over the world - from as far away as Australia, India and the Ukraine, and as nearby as downtown Folsom. It is the breadth of presentations, from world-class to great-for-the-kids that makes the Harris Center unique in the capital region.

Anyone who loves rock & roll, rad costumes, energetic dancing, and uplifting humor would be a fool not to make their way to the Metro Theatre in Vancouver for Renegade Arts Company's production of ROCK OF AGES. Highlighting classic rock songs from the 80s from artists such as Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Whitesnake, and Journey, this jukebox musical brought out my inner rock star!

Rock of Ages, directed by Martha Banta and choreographed by Janet Rothermel, is still as Poison coons 'nothin' but a good time.' The cast of Rock of Ages brings concert level energy to the musical. It's contagious and infectious from glam metal songs to the soft rock ballads.

Chris Renalds is giving the audience advice you may never expect to hear from a performer. In fact, it is so contradictory to the norms of theatergoing that some thespians may even consider it blasphemy. However, when you consider that the show he is performing in is Rock of Ages, Renalds' advice suddenly makes perfect sense.
