Geva Theatre Center unveils the play chosen for Plays in Progress 2018 to be held in the Fielding Stage on April 16. Plays in Progress are vibrant and innovative plays by some of the most exciting playwrights working today. Through Geva's Plays in Progress program, writers can hear their work performed, discuss the play with the audience and then continue to work on the play to its next level. This year's play, Panorama by Prince Gomolvilas, has been commissioned by Geva as part of the theatre's "Rochester Stories" program.

Geva Theatre Center's 2017-2018 Season continues with the world premiere of One House Over, by Catherine Trieschmann and directed by Mark Clements, in the Elaine P. Wilson Stage from April 3 through April 29.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company celebrates 42 seasons of innovative ensemble theatre with an evening of celebration emceed by actor Rainn Wilson, who will be starring in The Doppelganger (an international farce) at Steppenwolf this spring and is well-known for his role as "Dwight Schrute" on NBC's award-winning comedy The Office. Comedian, actor, director and producer Chris Rock, who is best known for his standup comedy and who starred in the world premiere Broadway production of The Motherf**ker with the Hat directed by Steppenwolf Artistic Director Anna D. Shapiro, will be the guest auctioneer alongside Christie's Robbie Gordy.

Last season's hit musical, Million Dollar Quartet, is back by popular demand for a strictly limited run in the Elaine P. Wilson Stage, from June 14 to July 8. With book by Floyd Mutrux and Colin Escott, based on an original concept by Floyd Mutrux and inspired by the music of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, Million Dollar Quartet is directed by Tony Award Nominee Hunter Foster.

Hedda Gabler, both Henrik Ibsen's legendary anti-heroine and his eponymous play from whence she comes, challenges even the most experienced directors and actors to create a version of the piece that is engaging and authentic - and, perhaps more importantly, appealing to the people sitting in the audience witnessing the willful Hedda succumb to her baser instincts, even while attempting to become a dutiful wife in a society for which she seems emotinally ill-equipped.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces five NNPN Rolling World Premieres (RWP): Ready Steady Yeti Go by David Jacobi, Ripe Frenzy by Jennifer Barclay, Apples in Winter by Jennifer Fawcett, The Mermaid Hour by David Valdes Greenwood, and Heartland by Gabriel Jason Dean. The five plays will receive a total of 17 NNPN RWP productions, with each play seeing at least three distinct productions in a 12-month period.

To coincide with Geva Theatre Center's production of The Diary of Anne Frank, by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman, the theatre is hosting a special exhibit and a series of post-show conversations. These events allow Geva's audiences to further understand the characters and the social context of this play. In addition, Geva has partnered with an area high school for The Stage Door Project: The Diary of Anne Frank.

Following last year's production of The Marvelous Wonderettes, Geva Theatre Center presents The Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps and Gowns. Written and created by Roger Bean with vocal and musical arrangements by Michael Borth, The Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps and Gowns is directed by Melissa Rain Anderson with musical direction by Don Kot and will be performed in the Fielding Stage from December 7 to December 24.
